1g bov vs. aftermarket

The 1g is alot cheaper,
the rfl is alot louder.

Personally i dont care for how the turbo xs sound,
If it were me id get a GReddy or TiAL.

Oh man the 1g is PLENTY loud! whooooooosh! I love it! Its the only BOV that I trust to run on my car mainly because its tried and tested for success!

I couldn't get my 1g bov to hold more than 20 psi crushed, which is why I bought a greddy type-s (and now an ngr type-s to replace it).

I also like the ngr type-s. I tried a 1g bov but it developed an an annoying(sounding) leak

A crushed 1G BOV is ok if you just need something to get you by for awhile, but you're probably going to want an aftermarket one eventually. Forge makes a good one thats not that expensive and has a good sound, and also APS makes one for the EVO that fits, sounds good, and works well on a 2G. Everyone always goes for the GReddy Type-S, but personally I don't like the sound of them.

Try to find an Evo 9 bov. It bolts on to the factory uicp flange on 2g's and holds more boost then the 1g valve. They usually sell for about the same as a 1g bov does used and depending on the boost you plan on running, you may not have to crush it.

That is a good point too. An EVO IX BOV might cut it depending on what you want to do...maybe even an EVO VIII BOV, they hold about 17-18 psi before cracking open.

The Evo IX ones are metal while the Evo VIII ones are plastic.

You can Dodge Mod a Evo IX one just like the 1g BOV too.

Yeah the EVO VIII ones look similar to a stock 2G BOV, but hold a lot more pressure.

You should update your profile info, with your mods, so we can help a bit. If you're not running crazy boost, don't buy aftermarket. 1g bov's are great, mine held 24psi crushed. And idk about IX bov's being the same price as 1g ones, I've bought many of 1g bov's for $20.

Okay, you won't find a good Evo 9 bov for $20, but you can find them for $60 which is still much less then an aftermarket one.

I've had a 1g hold 26+ psi and I've used Greddy , Apexi and now have a Tial BOV and although they all did the job needed from them what no one has mentioned is the more CFM your flowing (bigger turbo) or higher boost levels, you'll want to consider if the BOV's opening is enough to allow enough air to escape to keep the turbo from loosing too many RPM of shaft speed making the transition back to boost after the gear change slower

When i ran 1g's i had actually a 1g and a Apexi BOV because i could tell a difference in both logs and driving that neither of them would let off enough air by themselves to let the turbo spin freely without being back up too much by the air damn when you let off the gas, but anything is better than nothing

What's all this crushing a 1g valve? What's all this 1g valve won't hold to 30psi? do the dodge garage mod. It ALWAYS works. It ALWAYS holds way over 30 psi. I havn't had any surge issues with the 60-1, 16Gs, the 18g, the big h1c, and the 14b. I've seen 52lb/min with the 60-1; so a single 1g unit should be good for up to that for the most part. You can get TWO 1g valves plus modification for far less than a single larger valve. Two are PLENTY for almost every turbo ever set into a T/E/L engine bay.

hey guys sorry for the delay, i was at work. my car is a completely stock auto gst. nothing done to it as of right now. wanting to get a thermal turbo back exhaust soon though. hope that helps.

and this may sound bad but honestly i really only want one for the sound, and for it to hold descent amount of pressure.

Bro you just made a very good decision in exhaust systems. thermal R&D is EXCELLENT

i love how they sound and have heard great things about them, but i really dont want to spend alot of money to get a brand new one when a used one will be just fine for me.
