Well i just sold my greddy type s today and will be ordering an hks v2 bov next week.
I got rid of the greddy cause i've always wanted an hks one, it's my favorite.

Anywho, i will be using a 1g bov for the meantime and i was thinking, is a 1g bov an all around better bov than the greddy type s ?
This means in terms of recirculating, venting, valve staying open too long under vacuum, holding boost.
All opinions will be gladly appreciated.

What's so odd about the real flanged Extreme sells? That's a flange for stock 2g piping. And over time, I have realized the 1g CBVs have outlasted and performed Type-S BOVs. Plus with 1g CBVs, you can crush them or do the Dodge Garage Mod.

I was just saying why I think the 1g CBV is better. The flanges you're showing are different. The first one is for stock 2g piping, and the second is for DIY setups. The second one you will weld onto a blank pipe.

True that. Well my existing bov flange is for a 1g/greddy style, i was thinking of having the neck grinded off, and with the above flange which has a neck for stock applications, have a little of that neck cut off and have it welded. Will that work as well with no problem ? trying to keep it as clean as possible without having to cut off the exisitng weld of my current bov flange from the root.

The 1G valve is better and more versatile than anything you'll spend $200 and bolt to your car, with the exception of maybe the Tial. The main selling point of the Tial is it's giant 50mm piston which is great for releasing a ton of air quickly on race setups with huge turbos running lots of boost.

On a street car, if you buy anything other than a 1G BOV you're wasting your money.

Since whatever pipe you have already has a hole cut, I would have it cleaned down to the hole on the pipe and start fresh with the DIY flange. I've used two of the DIY flanges. They work great.

I would never buy a greddy type s again. The screw on the top with the nut on it stripped with little to no effort, causing compressor surge. That was sweet. Put on the 1g bov again and never looked back.

I have boost leak tested my 1g BOV to 35 psi with no leakage. It is crushed and dodge-modded and I have no compressor surge issues. Although, I rarely see part throttle or low boost when I drive it since its my weekend car. :D

Yea I also agree that the 1g crushed is better. I had the type-s on my car for years and loved the sound. But thats about it, once you turn it to the real firm settings all you get is compressor surge when running 25+psi. Put on my crushed 1g bov and never looked back.

Forge makes an excellent product. My good buddy has been running a Forge BOV on his Evo VIII for a couple years now without a single problem. Their function and sound is nearly identical to a 1G BOV but they're slightly flashier in appearance and give you the ability to swap springs fairly easily so you can tune the valve to open quickly or hold high boost.

Still, being that their function is similar to a 1G valve and their cost is around the $200 mark, the 1G valve is the better value.

Thanks for the input, although the forge bov is more around $150, but it is still more than the 1g of course. I will keep an eye out for a good deal on either one.

Nice responses. 1g BOV seems to be a great product mitsu made for our cars back in the days, not to mention they sound good. Mine is recirc'ed and i can honestly say it sounds nice, "woosh followed immediately by a greddy'ish chirp". I love it. Too bad it's momentary though till i get my hks v3.

My HKS vented is unbelievably loud (stock insert, 16lbs currently).

I've had an unmolested 1g bov laying around for quite sometime, I just haven't had the chance to re-do my intercooler piping. I've been waiting until then to switch flanges.

As soon as that happens I will be selling the HKS. Seriously, its obnoxious.
