1g alternator wiring WITHOUT a harness

Hi,

I have a 1G alternator that I'm wiring into a 2G harness. I read every post on here related to alternators and I get how to do it...the problem is I don't have a 1G wiring harness so I don't know which prong corresponds to which wire on the 1G harness.

I have couplers that I will be using instead of a 1G harness. When the alternator is all bolted up, which color wire does the prong closer to the engine correspond to?

I really appreciate a quick answer, as I'm working on the car right now and I want to finish this off. If you have a 1G alternator and don't mind taking a quick look, I would be ever so grateful!

OK, I've been looking for a picture of the wiring harness for like an hour, looking at every picture on every thread with the word "alternator" in it. I *THINK* I found a picture that shows the 1G wiring harness clearly enough...it looks to me like the thick wire is the one that runs closer to the engine.

The picture wasn't clear enough for me to be able to tell the colors, so I'm going to assume the thick wire = 12V = the red wire on the 2g harness. The prong further from the engine is going to be wired into the black/yellow wire on the 2G harness.

If I'm wrong, for the love of God, please reply before I hook my battery back up and try to start the car

Off to the garage I go...I'll check back before I am ready to hook up the battery to see if anyone has replied haha.

For those looking for an answer: the way I explained it before turns out to be correct. Here is a picture of how I wired it:

There's a bit of an optical illusion going on, but the red wire from the harness is the one going to the prong closer to the engine.
