I found a 1995 Eclipse GSX on Facebook marketplace and just went and picked it up. It has 121,000 miles and has been sitting for 10+ years.

It has a Apexi fuel controller, boost controller, bigger injectors, is slammed and has Apexi exhaust. The guy had someone put nitrous in it and got it back, the fuel pump went out, he lost interest and it’s been sitting there since. I bought it for $4,200 and have intentions to clean it and possibly put the 2gb body on it.

Any suggestions as far as what maintenance I should do first? Obviously oil change, fuel pump, coolant flush, and the brakes are sticking so get those cleaned up. I think maybe the slave cylinder is bad because It didn’t have any fluid in it after sitting for so long and we put some in it and it quickly got pressure again.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome, congrats and good luck.

Inspect anything that is rubber for dry rot since the car has been sitting for so long. Vacuum, fuel and brake lines, timing belt/water pump, radiator hoses, engine mounts, suspension bushings, sway bar links, etc.

Okay thanks, yeah I’m going to try to start digging into it by the end of this week. That guy had an apexi fuel controller installed and it took place of the cup holder, is that where people normally install them? Also is there anything I can do to the window sill seal to prevent it from cracking and keep it in the best shape possible? I have a GS and it’s horrible on it

I would take a very good look at the timing belt before even starting or cranking it and I would just replace it to be safe even if you think it looks good. If the belt breaks or shreds you'll be looking at major money and repairs. If it's been sitting 10+ years its on borrowed time.

Yeah, please dont start that car without checking out the timing belt. Be ready to swap that out.

Window seal? A friend gave me a ton of 303 Protectant a long time. So Ive and been putting it on plastic/rubber/vinyl to keep them pliable whenever i do a wash. Doesnt take much to keep them moisturized, it just that most people forget about it until it starts to dry out and start cracking. Before that i think i used tire shine.
