Hi guys, I have a 1992 5 spd awd turbo that died yesterday (o comp on cylinder 1) luckily my buddy have an extra engine that his selling for $500. But the thing is my engine is a 7 bolt in his got 6 bolt but same year. My question is, is it just gonna bolt right in? Do I need to swap anything else? I haven't done this before so anybody have an idea. Thanks

Yes it will bolt in. There is also no 92 7 bolt. Don't confuse model year with build date. Notice all new cars come out in the fall. Well the manufacturers started building them in the spring. That's why you would have a 1993 car (7bolt) but with a spring build date of 1992. The model years 1990-1992 should have build dates starting in spring/summer 1989 through spring of 1992.

If the motor is complete you really won't notice any difference as far as bolt in goes but you will need a flywheel to go along with it. If you want a rundown of what is different it is well documented.

There is such a thing as a '92 7-bolt.

If in doubt, go ahead and check how many flywheel bolts are required for the car with VIN 4A3CS54U0NE133642, for example.

Geez Brian....
Ok I concur. There is what looks like one month where there could be a 1992 7 bolt car. Damn it would have to be a rare one though. The build dates where the cutoff is damn close.

As above any cars from those years should swap easily with no issues with connectors etc.
