I found a 2.4L SOHC 4G64 in my local junkyard in a 1992 Eagle Summit AWD minivan (I checked the door plate, and it says it was manufactured in August of 1991). I want to take the whole bottom end, rebuild it, and slap a 4G63 head on it. From what I have read this will give me 11.0:1 compression and 2.4L of displacement in my 1994 Talon ES. Im guessing this will make around 200HP. A nice bump from my measly 135.
Does anybody know if this motor is a 6 bolt or 7 bolt motor? Being a 91 or 92, I would have to assume its a 6 Bolt (which would be good)? I've read that you have to plug some oil holes in the block on some RWD blocks, but with FWD or AWD, does anybody know for sure if it needs to be done?
I looked on the back of the block and it does have two holes for the rear motor mount (although they are not being used, as the minivan uses a transmission mount, like my 2G, leading me to believe it might be a 7 bolt) Is there any way to tell for sure if it will bolt into a 1G, without pulling the transmission? Any other suggestions or things I need to take into account?
