Whats the lowest psi possible on the 14b turbo, assuming the wastegate is hooked straight up to the turbo outlet thing

alrighty, thanks for the responses. I guess I'll just hook it up and see what I get out of it. If its higher than I'm looking for, then I'll just lay off the gas pedal a little bit

I know that mine wouldn't go under 9.5psi but I have a manual boost controller closed all the way. I believe that's as low as the wastegate will open though.....?¿? :talon:

The lowest it will go is if you take the boost controller off and just connect the lines together

I'm working on a custom turbo project for a different car (Hyundai with mitsu motor) and I'm using the left over parts I have from my 1g. I only want to run about 6psi though, which is why I was wondering if that was the 14b's lowest

When I got mine installed, the max I could reach was 8, nothing more nothing less. Then i got a T in between and got around 10-12 psi's

Still waiting on the profec

I geuss im the only one running 7 psi on a evo 16g LOL

Wow... If you think your going fast with that, wait until you turn it up to 16+!! :thumb:

As for the lowest boost on a 14B the wastegate spring is a 9psi spring, might differ a bit on some cars due to cracked housings and what not which would result in seeing a slightly lower boost... I was getting about 7psi with cracks at the flapper..

With no boost controller the lowest boost you could run is determined by the wastegate actuator spring, which on a stock DSM is around 8 - 9 psi. You can buy aftermarket actuators with lighter springs.

thanks, that was what I was looking for. I might look into lighter springs for the actuator
