i found a place that sells 110 octane gas in my area, but is it safe for me to run that in my stock 97 gsx? what upgrades will i need to make it 100% safe?

That's not completely correct.DO NOT use 110 octane if you have a Catalyic converter. it WILL mess up your motor.

Leaded fuel is what hurts catalyic converters, not any specific octane rating.
DSMnOOb00 - You aren't going to benefit from a higher octane unless you specifically tune for it. So, dont waste your money. Also, if this 100 octane that you're looking at is leaded, you will cause premature failure your your O2 sensors and your catalyic converter.
