110 octane over pushing these vehicles?

A lot of you guys have used race gas but it is never listed which octane rating you guys were using. So my question is this is 110 octane pushing these cars too far? I have my engine rebuilt with low compression pistons and a lot of mods to help cool this thing down but is 110 octane going to be beyond what this car is capable? Also thank you to the people that have helped me out on these forums.

What do you mean pushing the car too far? The fuel doesn't burn hotter, it is just less resistant to detonation.

Please, no-one read the above as suggesting you can just fill your tank with E85 and drive. It requires significant tuning to run E85.

Using a higher octane gas will only benefit if you tune the car for it. If you have run a car on both 93 and 116, you probably won't notice a huge difference unless you change the tune to take advantage of the higher octane.

I used to run 116 in my car for track days before E85 came into my area. It gets really expensive really quickly though if you stick with just race gas.

+1. More timing and a leaner mixture on race gas will really wake about any setup up. But race gas alone will show no benefits on a stock engine.
