Stock prop rod as well

I replaced the stock prop with struts.

Could you not use another ball joint as a replacement for the closest fender bolt and nix the bracket altogether? The hood wouldn't open as far if it's already at max rod travel on your setup but.. is there something else preventing such a setup?

The hood lifts need to be balanced for the weight of your hood.
I use a stock hood prop with the lifts with a CF hood for the windy days.

You could and like you said the travel would be slightly less . Theres a thread on this.

The RAV4 rods only work they way do due to the bracket.

It allows the Rod to remain parallel with the hood without bracket and another ball joint it would be slightly intersecting - this is just cosmetic.

I like that the rod tucks under the hood lip. You notice this when looking at gap between the hood and fender.

Not for me. Definitely like not having to work around the stock hood prop. Easy to install as well.

Interesting. I'll see what I come up with as for $30 I ordered a set of rods and a few bucks more some additional ball screws.

I use a strut kit I bought off ebay around 10-12 years ago. I did have to replace the struts themselves with weaker ones when I bought my CF hood.

Like I said, bought them 10+ years ago, links are all dead.

Used aftermarket 2005 Chrysler 300 struts (SG414051) and 4 m6x1.0 ball screws. Factory fender bolt location.
Drilled and tapped hinge @ 1 5/8" from front edge where the little crease is. holds well extended, closes easily once it gets going. Even holds on its own at 75% open
