"The DSM" 2.3 Stroker 1g GSX

Found a local deal on a 91 GSX and going back to my JDM/Tuner roots to breathe some life back into this classic. Got a piston/rod 2.3 stroker included in the deal. Have a built head w/BC0101cams, still debating turbo and other mods. Cant wait!!

If you can afford it, get a new engine harness, custom etc, all of us who've driven these cars and have acquired many miles have been toasting these wires to the point that they're all brittle and waiting to create an expensive and time consuming problem to solve and possible danger while driving.

I got an OHM harness and while it had a few issues (that cost more to resolve than the harness) at least the wires are new and labeled.

Unfortunately, and as silly as it sounds, Ohm harness is a bit out of the budget right now. Surprisingly, my harness is in decent shape for the age, no broken connectors, just very brittle wiring where the terminals actually slide into the connectors and the couple damaged ones I found. I'm real good with wiring and will be testing/verifying circuits as I make repairs. Glad we have FSM's here that's been a good resource But I agree, and in the near future plan on getting the Ohm Harness. I've contemplated buying the Sheridan kit and just making my own harness but I feel at that point the money and time invested, would be better off just buying an ohm harness 🤣

**Update**
We Have Power!!!
All the wiring has been sorted out/repaired
Got the battery hooked up, all the interior/exterior lights appear to be functional
Ecm Link is operational and connected with no issues.
Just waiting on a few odds and ends and hoping for first startup by this weekend.

Next hurdle is....I have familiarized/ gained a good enough understanding of how EcmLink operates, Im confident that I can get the injectors, SD, displacement stuff setup. I have a wideband and all that. Just wondering if I can get everything safely adjusted to get the engine running and get some heat cycles on it to get the rings seal up nice. Any help on setting up a 2.3 stroker in Link is appreciated.

Setting up EcmLink. Think I have everything configured correctly for the most part so far. Feel free to chime in with any advice. Getting nervous about startup it being a 2.3,

Base Fuel pressure set to 43.5, used the calculator for global fuel/dead time settings

Switched everything over to speed density and configured the inputs for Omni 4bar/GMIAT

Changed displacement in VE table to 2.3

Wideband is hooked up on 02 housing I just need to set it up in the ECU (using innovate mtxl) I have the yellow analog cable ran to pin 4. (Do I need to enable narrowband simulation?)

That's where I'm at

Here is my first log, First time ever using Link. Definitely wont be revving it anymore since it was picking up knock. 2.3 stroker, bc0101 cams, fuel injector clinic bluemax 1450cc low z. changed base fuel psi to 43.5 (FuelLab fpr) Aeromotive 340lph, using the calculator it changed global fuel to -71.5 and 675usec. STFT was floating around-16. Deadtime was reduced to 475 to bring fuel trims closer to zero. Not sure if this is the correct thing to do, airflow per rev is high, not sure how to bring it down. I also need to set base idle to 5btdc. Ensured mechanical timing and everything else is good. It sounds good and healthy. No knocks or weird noises, no dtcs. Any input is appreciated. Id really like to get this going solid enough to put miles and heat cycles on it safely before taking it to get tuned (SolidTech Performance in Abq, NM)

I didn't get a chance to look at the log yet but often times airflowperrev is going to be a best guess when you aren't using stock cams. I had the same problem getting mine dialed but in the end, its where it is and the car runs great. If you can find an injector data sheet for your injectors, use that to dial in the global/deadtime/pulse width settings

Give this a read as well

I don't have a log unfortunately just the sheet

Forged Piston/rod 2.3 stroker
Bc 0101 cams
20g Turbo@19psi
Big Fmic
Full 3" exhaust
Fic Bluemax 1450s
Aeromorive Stealth 340lph
An fuel lines

For some reason or another it's falling off at 6k
