I just bought a small 16g from a guy on craigslist. The turbo is good (no shaft play) and was inspected by a mechanic i trust. Now the question is what all do I NEED to hook it up? I already have 550cc injectors coming, Walburo 255 fuel pump, boost gauge and controller. What do i need in terms of piping, gaskets, nuts ect...? And is there a cheaper solution then forking out 300 for a full 16g install kit?

Thanks

You'll make your life alot easier with a j-pipe if you don't have one for running the intercooler piping, without a chip or any tuning measures you'll probably hit fuel cut.

you are going to need a j-pipe and you're also going to need to find a way to hook the j-pipe up to your intercooler, oil feed line either from the head or a stainless steel line from the oil filter housing, you can reuse the water lines, and you can reuse the oil return line if you stretch the bolt holes out a little bit on the turbo side, everything else will bolt right up.

Awesome thanks! I plan to get a DSMLink soon enough...just working out my budget with school starting back up here. College is pricey :p

dnt forget turbo timer. you dont want ## brand new turbo going bad.
Waste of money. A 16G is water-cooled for a reason; you do not need a turbo timer on a car with a water-cooled turbo. It won't hurt anything, obviously....but it's not required.

I agree, while some people swear by turbo timers, they are 100% un needed. I have yet to see a factory turbo'd car come with one :)

The only reason why you would really need one is if you run your car hard until you get to your destination and don't let it cool down. If you drive easy on your last few minuites then you'll be fine and your turbo will cool down enough.

Water cooled turbos have a lower chance for oil coking than non water cooled and that's what you want to prevent from happening. However, most people's oil pressure at idle is between 10-30psi which isn't too much for oil circulation at the turbo so sitting isn't helping it cool down as good as driving easy with wind cooling would do.

All in all, you don't need one :coy:
