To be honest, I rather like how the wiring is from the factory. You can have all the electronics out of the way for an engine pull in 10 minutes or so. I couldn't imagine how long it would take to fish it all out if it's all tucked under everything. You're also introducing more possibility for electrical malfunctions - in a 15+ year old car it's already problematic enough.

If done correct you shouldn't have any issues. Usually when doing a tuck not many wires need to be modified. You don't cut connectors off but rather depin them.

My plan is to build a custom milspec wire harness once my garage is built. It will have 1 connection on the fire wall that I can disconnect and then pull the motor. 100x faster then stock.

Here's what I did on my current project. Don't mind the random hose laying to the right, I need to hook up a catch can:

Here you can barely see the harness down behind the rear motor mount:

cant wait to show you guys my wire tuck, engine bay shave, brake line tuck, batt relocate, fusebox relocate, cruise delete, emissions delete, a/c delete, P/S delete, stupid useless stuff delete. and wire harness loomed with braided loom and a mil spec connector on the fire wall. i also de-pinned every single wire not used in the entire car.i wish i had taken a picture when all the useless wires came out, it was like 10 lbs of wires and connectors.

i also deleted the abs system, air bags and took out the computers for them from under the dash. a/c and heater system all under the dash is gone too. climate control is deleted. rear wiper got deleted along with the wiring all the way back to the switch and fuse box.

im trying to put my harness under the fuel rail could i take off the fuel rail with no problems? and not have fuel going all over the place?

I usually pull the fuse for the fuel pump and crank the engine for 10 seconds to relieve pressure. Then you can safely pull the rail, but you'll still get some fuel drip out so have a rag handy to soak it up.

Here's mine I just put the harness under the fuel rail

Need to see some pictures man!

I'm not too crazy on brake line tucks though.

I am in the middle of my wire tuck/engine bay clean up and I was wandering if anyone had the part number for the plug on the fire wall where the a/c lines used to come out from the evaporator?

I think I'm going to attempt a wire tuck to get a clean look, I got some good ideals from looking at the pictures you guys posted.

I've been meaning to post this here for a while now. I didn't do a "tuck" but a reroute. You can read more about it in my tech article, http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-electrical-wiring/364498-rerouting-engine-wiring-harness.html.

In addition to the reroute described in the article I also looped the throttle cable under the intake manifold, and ran the injector wires under the fuel rail. The following has been removed: All emissions equipment, air conditioning, fuel pressure and purge control solenoids, cruise control, and the battery tray (battery is low-mounted).

Here is my rerouted, not tucked, engine bay:

What do you guys think?

I ran my ecu wires under the battery tray, and my lights have been removed so they are not running in the factory locations. Im glad i did it this way but on my next project its going to look great this was great practice, and the fusebox will be out of the way.

what are you 2g guys doing with the tiny little sensor on top of the intake manifold? a pressure sensor or something....it's held in with i think 2 ,8mm bolts

on the right abouve the big blug in the center

I'd love to do a wire tuck on my laser however the talon made me pretty much divided on it. On one side it was so much fun to work on it with such a free bay. The downside is, I had horrendous amounts of wiring issues that kept popping up from the wire tuck and had issues always tracking them down due to the way things were different from most write ups / tech guides. + The throttle cable getting caught around the axle from where it was coiled behind the motor. It sure makes it look nice, but man I hate wiring!

Non-wire tucked :(
A few things eliminated / attempt at freeing some room.. But most everything's still there.

Some day I'd like to do a few things but like I said, I fear having the same issues that I had with the talon.

Ignore the MS'Paint'd yellow circle around the recirc opening :p

Ugh, soo ugly!

Wow makes me want a shaved valve cover.

I'd post pics of my engine bay but there really isnt much of a tuck done. Battery moved to trunk, ac removed, power steering removed. thats about it.

Looks ghetto but i got a blowthrough setup coming tomorrow and i plan to fill in all unused holes and move the fuse box and battery then paint the entire bay in some tough bedliner or something that wont chip and has a rough texture.

A good trick I do is turn the injectors 180* so the plug is on the bottom instead of on the top :)
