Wire Tuck [Merged 7-9] tucks tucking wiring tucked

I`m running an ebay intake pipe and yes it does push it to far to the fender. When ever i have to take my intake pipe out, i have to loosen up the air filer itself from the adaptor plate and kind of bring the intake pipe and the filter as two pieces but its really not that much of a hassle, i rarely take it off (only if im doing a BLT thats all). Im sure you can find a shorter filter though to replace yours incase you do run an ebay intake. Im trying to find a shorter AEM dry filter like the one i have.

You can mount the catch can where ever you like, its called fabrication work.
Do you have a drill & bits, well then have at it and drill a new hole somewhere.
Use some black zip ties if you have to, be creative, run a longer hose if you want to mount it elsewhere in the engine bay.
As I said it's your mess later.
That upper piping is an upper intercooler pipe.
The charge pipe is what goes to the turbo.:thumb:
The ebay kits come w/ filter & everything needed to mount it.

has any one done a diy wire tuck on 2g with a 420a cause im not sure if i want to tuck all my wires or not:ohdamn:

I bet people have before, but why would you not want to do it? Cleaning up the engine bay by means of tucking away whatever wires you can always looks better IMO.

Hi everyone, I've been looking around the site and found a few good threads about people doing Wire Tucks/ Fuse box relocation, etc.

Im asking for anyone who can point me in the direction of some more wire tuck, fuse box relocation type of build logs/threads so I can get some ideas.

Thanks for the help

so ive shaved and polished both my intake manifold and valve cover, while assembling it all back together i decided to do a little bit of wire tucking, while doing so i was wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to tuck the one harness for (injector wires, transistor, coil plug, etc) along the side of the block and under the heater hoses and up through along the inside bend of the intake manifold? is there any heat/melting issues with the harness being very close if not touching the block and heater lines??? thanks for your input guys!!:hellyeah:

I have done this, had no problems. I ran the injector wires, cas wires up through the bottom. I took all the loom and tape off, because it wouldn't reach the injectors taped the way it was. Then re-taped and loomed it. I ziptied it in a few discreet place to keep it about 5 inches off the head. As long as you keep it off the block you shouldn't have any problems.

I've got everything out of the engine bay of my 92' GSX and I'm about to spray it. After the motor is done that's going in and then I'm putting the car back together, but I want as little under the hood as possible. I'm already going to put the battey in the trunk, but where does everyone who cleans up their engine bay hide all the wiring. Also what other things can I relocate or hide and where?

If your really serious about doing a wire tuck, take the entire ECU Harness out of the car and start to cut open ;)...Its a looong job but its well worth it in the end.

If you dont wanna take the harness out, you can do it inside the car but its not as "Professional"...

*You dont need all the emmission/test connectors on the firewall
*Relocate the Injector Resistor Box and Grounds further down the firewall..
*Cut/shorten the wires going to the fuel rail and hide under the intake manifold..

Ok so a had some issue's with the newest talon I have. I got it from a friend of mine and I thought he did better work them what this car has.
Ok when I got this car I did not check the car over all that much becuase I know the guy pretty well....But I should have. so when I got the car it had an S-afc2,maf-t,wideband (needed o2 senser)narrow band and EGT guage. 16g that need a rebuild so I did when I took the turbo off.AGX all the way around the car. camber pates. can't rember the brand but it's decsent. strut bar sway bar's. soild mount's.big fmic,2.5 innercooler piping, full 3" exhaust,18's.Big brake kit drilled. For my 97 gst shell's that was ready for a 6 bolt.Everything that you need to do the the 2g for the swap was done. so I think I came out on top.car that run's for car that does not run.
well so far this it the list of part's I have in the car and thing's I've put in.
t3/t4 manifold,60-1 turbo,Fic 750 injector's,Afpr, acly injection kit, and now I'm kinda doing a wire tuck right now just in the intake area. The wire's all have break's in them like the cas, tps, injectors,. So tell me what you think.
But the thing that really made me mad was I never looked at the timing belt. well i did after I had to get the car towed back to me house due to the the cas clip broke a wire at the harness side Not a dam thing I could do. so I was like i'm goona fix the bad part's of the harness, clean it up kinda tuck the wire's piant some thing's . so off came the timing top cover and what do is see........ A big as+ deep line at the inside of the timeing belt!!!!!
And we all know why that had right he put the wrong bolt In the oil pan so now that I gotta do timing I think I'll put some cam's in to like 272's

Ditch that cruise control too, it will really help to clean stuff up in the engine bay :thumb:

yeah It look like crap right thier. I will be taking aonther pic some time soon. I also made a custom heat shield fot my t3 manifold. still got to paint it and put it on.

I would but I like cruise and ac and all that good stuff. I maybe making a shield to cover that stuff clean it up. make it not in plan view's sight but we will see.

To be honest, I rather like how the wiring is from the factory. You can have all the electronics out of the way for an engine pull in 10 minutes or so. I couldn't imagine how long it would take to fish it all out if it's all tucked under everything. You're also introducing more possibility for electrical malfunctions - in a 15+ year old car it's already problematic enough.

So I am really thinking about tucking my wiring, it would look nice. But my wiring is from 1991, does anyone know if our cars have problems with interference in the wires? I know RX7's have this horrible problem of there wiring being cheap and feeding back interference to the ECU.

Sorry to post up another question in this.

NO you should be good no worry's.

I could have used that link when I put my engine back in. I mean I REALLY could have.....its' a good reference when you had a friend help with pullin' the engine...and he didn't remember to mark the wires so I'd know where they went.

well you can put the fuse box in the inner fender well, where the windshield washer tank was, unless you are going to keep that, i spent all most a month on my wire tuck, its a long job if you do it right, but it is SO worth it in the end, but dont be fooled it isnt going to look like a honda with a wire tuck, there is still a lot of crap under the hood when your done....

Just a little update. I got my new short route intercooler setup done last month.

I am switching the red boost controller out with a black one pretty soon. I am hoping to get a cold air made to hide that ugly filter and as for the purple blow off valve....It stays! LOL

Not exactly how I wished it would be. But its better than nothing. Throttle cables are under the intake manifold. harness goes through the intake manifold and injector wires under the throttle body. Resistor pack is relocated under the battery, no need for extending the wires. There was a perfect location for the resistor pack under the battery that had two bolt holes that I ended up using. Bolted down fine. When I get my new intake manifold, I'm gonna finish the tuck as best as I can... I don't want the wires shown, and if they have to be, I want them to look nice.

I do a lot of computer modifications so I'll prob sleeve the wires and shrink wrap the ends just so the visible wires look good.
