Why does my Auto RS-T shift so early?

Both styles of 1g TCUs ( 2 plug, 3 plug ) came with an eprom option..Maybe 1/3 chance yours is an eprom..

I'll probably do the shiftbox. That's pretty cool option. I just wish I could modify the button to be on my steering wheel.

You can modify the buttons on the steering wheel to shift when you press them..You have to have the roadsurge shift box,, and a 2g steering wheel..

It's in this thread somewhere about using the horn buttons to shift.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/403412-help-tcu.html

To find out if the tcu is an eprom just open it up there should be a chip, in there somewhere..

This pic shows the E on the sticker for eprom and I circled the chip that needs to be socketed..

But sometimes the E on the fron't of the case is misleading..And does not always meen there is an eprom underneath..

Like with my factory ecu I thought it was eprom for a long time before I decided to open it up and find out for sure..And it wasn't..So like I said the E on the case can be misleading..

The only time its wrong on the TCUs that I have handled, is when the covers were switched..

Wait.

I know you are concerned about the shifting, but removing the honeycombs on our MAF sensors is a bad idea without some way to tune for the change in metered airflow. Does your "tuned ECU" have a chip that compensates for this? If not, don't be surprised if the car runs worse without them.

Oh, and if it runs better, congrats on your 2hp free mod. LOL
thats only in a 2g you will have problems.. 1-g's will get great gains. thats IF its only the smaller of the two honeycombs you remove.

Both of my Talons have been AWD autos and both always up shifted at 7000 RPM when at WOT.

If the TPS shows less than WOT while your foot is on the floor it would cause the TCU to shift at a lower RPM. I second the TPS check.

Hmmm, mine has a IPT converter and a shift kit and its always shifted at about 6500. I have an AFC2 (eww) but it shows the TPS value and with the pedal to the metal it reads 100% and still a little early on the shifts.

My car shifts at around 7k as well. Even after swapping the the E3 16g (only on 10psi, but it pulls with more authority) it still shifts at 7k.
