i just picked up a set of bc 280's for my rebuild and im curious on what you guys are doing to get these things to idle and if have got them to idle what did you guys do? im just trying to prepair myself to tune them with the link...

thanks in advance
david

LOL, that is a deff with the link man. it lets NOTHING slide...

what kind of upgrade are these anyways? im switching from pf2s...

I lost a noticable amount in the mid range, but 6000rpm up made a large difference to the good. They make the overall power curve more progressive which I like. Seem to have a little drivability at very low rpm which is to be expect with the longer duration. I'm satisfied with them overall.

280's aren't exactly made for cruising down the highway, you know?... (sorry I'm being sarcastic)

awesome you guys are getting me excited about my new setup. here are some eye candy shots of my panda that will hopefully start in the next few days!

yeah, i was not all that impressed with the lobe of my pf2's also. the only way i could tell i had them was if i was parked next to another dsm...

So you want your car to sound like it's cammed, is that what your saying?

I like em and have had them in for almost 9 months now. So far I have only had the opportunity to use the with a eIII but hopefully next week I will have a s362 in use. The things I noticed were.

1. My idle is set at 1050 to but I can still notice a difference compared to the stock cams. I have adjusted the idle down in the past just messing around and didnt like the extra vibration so I adjusted back up.

2. I did notice a little of surge at first at low rpm crusing 35-45 mph range. It bothered me a bit but I think I must of gotten used to it.

3. I noticed some nice gains up top and instead of losing power up top with the eIII I kept making more.

All in all I like them. I did put adj cam gears on but did not seem to need them.

I got rid of mine and went to FP2X's .... perfect for the street. Power is great down low and up to redline (7500) RPM. I just didn't like the lack of low end snap that smaller cams have provided me.

That is where these cams live on 2.0L motor. ..... 8000 + rpms. People who buy these for less are crazy.

I cannot however comment on how they work on a stroker motor .... I ASSume the power band would be shifted a little lower down the RPM range, which IMHO would be awesome.

the panda lives. she started right up and had a small amount of idle surge. after it warmed up it stayed nice and steady at 1k and 8hg of vaccume. it sounds like a balls out race car now and appears to be undriveable at the moment. ill take her for a spin tomorrow after i adjust the clutch pedel and get a decent tune on it. right now the afr's are crazy and im seeing about 16-17 at idle....

Congrats. My buddy had 280's in his 2g and I have seen vid's of it and it sounded really nasty. :rocks: Love the way these motors sound with 272's and 280's.

Make sure you get them degreed correctly. I've seem some BC cams that are pretty far off online before.

^^ Just from my experience, I spent the extra money for cam gears and found out that they were not needed. We spent a few hours on the dyno trying em different ways and found that straight up was the way to go on my car.

I have had no stalling issues but I have also been on stock flywheel. When I get the car back hopefully next week it will have a new flywheel installed. I will let you know if I get any likes or dislikes.

i have 280's in my 2.3l stroker. i must say when i first put them in, i was very disappointed in the low end. after getting a tune on the dyno, and played with the adjustable cam gears, i'm impressed. they drive no problem, other than a really low rpm cruising surge between 1.5-2k. it brought my spool up 300rpms sooner after some tinkering on a gt35.

i have a no balance shafts so i have my idle at 1100 rpm. nice and noticeable camming.
