Alright guys, well I just finished my 14B install in my 95 GSX. All is well besides some minor oil leaks on the return line and the SS feed line at the filter housing. There was also a VERY minor coolant leak from the front banjo bolt on the turbo. I tightened it a tad and I think i went away. Now the turbo is spooling really late because I think there may be a leak before the turbo.
Now on to the problems.

1. The turbo does not smoke at all besides at WOT sometimes it blows out whiteish grey smoke. I'm trying to think of where it could be burning coolant. It never did this before the turbo install.

2. There was some white smoke the past 2 days at the manifold. I'm thinking its the shitload of PB Blaster that I sprayed all over the car but I'm not sure.

3. There's a smell coming from my engine that I can smell if I pop my hood and it becomes more noticeable when I'm driving and really get on it. It smells like burning plastic sort of, with a mix of burning rubber. The lower heat shield is not on the car because it's a pain to get on and I haven't put it back on because I haven't had time. Nothing is touching anything hot so I 'm confused...The only possible thing is maybe I pout on a new 4 ply exhaust mani. gasket as well as antiseize on most of the bolts and the turbo-mani. bolts.

Any help? Thanks.

Its an overplayed answer but still holds resonable.
Junkyard.

I could pick one up, longblock, for $3-400.

Bring a leakdown tester and hopefully be able to use their compressed air if they have a hose to reach. Or bring a portable air tank but that's not such a common buddy possesion.

Buy a regular car and save up for a good setup engine for the DSM

You want a reliable fast car, don't expect it to be cheap. You want a regular point a to point b car then by all means go cheap, but don't expect much past that. That's the important thing to remember here.

Ok, here's the deal. I just bought a 95 eclipse non turbo with a few problems which now seem to be more. I just changed both intake manifold gaskets and the valve cover gasket because I was told they needed it. Now I am having a little white smoke and a good amount of water coming out of the exhaust. It smells like burning oil, and not coolant so is that a good sign that it's not the head gasket? It had an oil leak from the valve cover and it looked to have a green tint. The oil does not look like a milkshake, no build up on the oil cap, doesn't run hot. Any suggestions of what this could be?

Ok, I will do that on friday and post results. Thanks for the link explaining how to do it also.

There is no oil in the coolant. Just looks to be coolant in the oil.

haven't seen much blue smoke but I guess if you want to play the semantics game then yeah a lighter black (bluish) smoke would be oil and straight black is fuel. Now that we got that out of the way...I'm sure the OP was so confused, haha

It's not a lot of white smoke.. But it's enough to be concerned about. With the head gasket blown wouldn't there be a ton of white smoke coming out?

Not nesesserelly. Both my car and truck had HG issues and only smoked white a little. There was no obvious smell either.
Go to your favorite autoparts store and buy/rent a compression tester and test compression in the cylinders. Won't cost more than about $30 for a tester and will be good enough to see if there is a head/HG problem.

I've got white smoke after acceleration, but I think it's because I'm at 25lbs and not venting my valve cover anymore. I'm recirculating back into my intake.

^^How are you at 25lb boost with 1000cc injectors and only a safc to tune. With that setup your probably running lean in boost which will cause major heat and knocking like crazy and slowly blowing your headgasket. I would seriously turn the boost way down before you really blow something. To o.p. I would start with looking at the turbo and ic pipes for evidence of blow by and figure out if its the turbo seals or valve stem seals.

One more question... Would it be possible that the water coming out could be caused from putting in the intake gasket wrong? Doesn't water pass through to keep it cool? It was my first time doing this and I'm no mechanic so I guess it's possible i could have done that.

Ahhhhh NO... there is no water passage from the head to intake on a 420a head (Same goes for the 4g63 also)

Ok, I did a compression test today and here are the results...
1.) 175,155,160,160, avg of 162.5
2.) 155,170,150,155, avg of 157.5
3.) 155,150,160,160, avg of 156.25
4.) 165,170,170,175, avg of 170.

Each test I did 4-5 revolutions. Does this tell you anything?

Yeah, I let it idle till it got to running temp then did the test.

Could it be built up condensation? It sat for almost 2 weeks while I was slowly doing the intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gasket...

Update: since the compression test came back normal I decided to take it for a spin to try and blow the moisture out. Ran it for 5 minutes on the highway and came home to no smoke or water coming out! So I'm thinking condensation?!?!
