White smoke?

Today I installed a e16g3 with a ported o2 housing.
Got everything on good.
Threw in mobile 1 oil and filter.
As for the coolant I put half coolant and half water.
I started it up and it ran a bit rough.
I gave it some gas and a cloud of white smoke just starts coming out.
I then remembered I forgot to plug the o2 sensor on the o2 housing.
Turned off the car and plugged it back in and started it up again.
Still smokes and it was enough to fog up the whole block.
I watched the coolant temp gauge and it was a little higher than usual.
This never happened before and I doubt it's the HG because I recently replaced it with a cometic one when I did my 14b turbo.
I leave it on for a bit and the smoke calms down.
Some times it doesn't smoke and sometimes it will just blow out clouds of smoke.
I notice my wideband reads rich at idle with afr of 12.0-13.3 or some where near there.
Could the turbo have bad seals? Also I over tightened the jpipe so the threadings on it are ripped. And It pulls fine but sometimes I can hear a weird sound. I can't describe it but its pretty noticeable. I don't know if its from the turbo or the engine. Turbo has some shaft play up and down but no in or out.

When you installed the turbo, did you take off any coolant hoses? When I first installed my s16g mine did this also but since we broke the seals on the coolant hoses it took a couple days of driving to let the heat reseal them and now no more white smoke.

Also, have someone start the car while you're looking in the engine bay to see if you can see an obvious leak.

Did you purchase the turbo used/rebuilt/new?

I bought this turbo used.
For the coolant hose its kinda clamped. Could that be the problem?

That or you could need a New turbo bro!.. When i Got my Gst about 2 months ago, it was also pouring out White smoke and i found out that it was my turbo seal.. I hope you get the problem fixed man. im sure its something simple like always

I know it's clamped, but once you take the clamps off and put them back on, if it's an old hose it will take a day or two to get a good seal. I wouldn't say the turbo seals are bad just yet, usually if you have bad turbo seals you see the white smoke after a pull, not when you first start it up. To me, it just sounds like a coolant leak.

Especially since you said the temp gauge was a little high. This is exact same thing happened to me when I installed my s16g, engine bay filled with smoke, smoke came out exhaust, and temp gauge read high. Drove it for a couple days, then it was fine, it just took my old coolant hoses a little while to seal back up really good, and the heat from driving it helped seal them up. Or when you filled it with coolant you could have spilled some near the turbo (I also did this).

And can you explain the sound you were hearing at all? Does it happen at idle, cruise, or WOT? Is it constant or intermittent?

I think the seals are bad. I swapped it out for my 14b. There's a black oil like residue in the exhaust and o2 housing. My 14b didn't smoke. The turbo will be going in for a rebuild. Thanks for all the help!
