It's from a british magazine. I was a fan of Mobil 1 till a read this. Now a Royal Purple fan. I don't believe they make "Racing 51" any more. But they do have the new XPR type.

I've read that article before and heard that it was done by an oil group

There are lots of pages like this around that say one is better than the other blah blah blah. Most of the tests put the oil through events that are very unlikely to happen inside a motor so it’s really hard to say which is best. I think too many people worry about oil, as long as you keep it clean with the right weight and level then 90% of people will have no issues. Now those that have purpose built engines then I can understand the desire of running better oil, I know I will run a better quality oil when I rebuild my engine.

You will be surprised by what engines can run on, it really amazes me how they can last with almost no oil, not changing it for 30k miles, having so much sludge that it can’t even drain, not changing the filter in 3 years, using 20w50 instead of 5w20, and even filling it halfway up the dip stick. All of these cars are still running great (after some yelling to the customer and a fresh oil and filter).

Hey guys i recently bought a fully built 2.3 stroked motor. The old owner was using 20 50 I think that its to thick, what do you guys think should I use 20 50 or should I go with something less like 10 40? Thanks for the help

A lot of people run 20 50, just need to let your car warm up before ripping on it. I would run the 20 50 if thats what the previous owner was running in it.

Royal purple in every car I've ever owned including my talon and all four srt4's and my lady's BMW and my Dakota R/T....never a problem, and holds up under HEAVY HEAVY abuse.

Im guessing this got merged by a mod you should page back an read some of this thread might help with your decision. To summarize most of the higher weight Oils have More Antiwear additives... .

Go with a motor oil that does NOT meet the EPA standards... The Zinc and Phosphorous levels have changed and cause more wear on the engine...

It depends on your clutch. The heavier the clutch the thicker the oil needs to be. I use in my first gen

Royal Purple XPR Racing Oil 20w 50 and it works without any issues.

Penzoil ultra or platinum depending on you budget but the utra is required for a ferarri or it loses it's warranty and the platinum is the only oil other then dextos full syn that you can have in a 2011 or newer gm car without voiding warranty.
If ferarri and gm put there names behind so do I.
