Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

I would highly recommend you consider the Mutt turbos also.

I have the ETE52(Polished TO4E) *(60-1 trim compressor wheel/T3 high flow exhaust wheel). It rocks!!

Spools faster than my old Big 16G....and pulls MUCH, much harder! (I would give some dyno #'s or track times to help prove their success...but my car is broken(center diff went Kaaapooot!) and I don't have the money to fix it right now.

But, I would recommend the ETE32/42 for your application.

Check out their site and see what you can learn.

Ohh for the boost issue .. when my car was runnin up to par i was hitting full boost at 3500 or so @ 17psi, Now im getting major turbo lag.. HuMm can really figure it out.. checked the manifold got all that retaped now im thinkin its my wastegate acuator arm.. but all in all the HRC 20G is a good turbo.. lag isnt taht bad

I got the HRC S20G - with intenal waiste gate.

And at one point I was selling mine for $600

I bought it for $850 - used for 1 season.

Anyways - car dyno'd 363whp - 24psi. - c-16 race gas.
egt - 1500

Car should easily run 11's - but I'm FWD

Anyways - there is a guy in IOWA that has the bigT28
and he's been running 12.1@110 and that's a pretty small turbo - think it's smaller then the 16G.

But anyways - I know the owner of Elite Autosports (might have seen the sticker on the side of Brent Rau's car) - he runs the Big16G and only runs a 12.4 - and he thinks that's about as fast as it will go?

so how knows - he's says the turbo just won't flow anymore.

think he dyno'd at 333whp - 363torque.

talk to larryd about the big28, hes got all kinds of info about his car w/ lots of numbers...oh and what type of lag is there with the red and green turbos?

The HRC becasue it comes with a full install kit and internal gate were as the FP 20g is just the trubo no install kit and a need for an external gate setup.

Later,

Yes if they only have a 32mm or "upgraded" 34mm flapper. Mutts have a 39-40mm flapper which flows alot.

Later,

the internal gate on the hrc super 20g works out very well, I have no problem keeping mine around 10 lbs (break in time) and I have a full 3" turbo back with no cat. and I love this turbo. just waiting on gettoing my carback from the body shop. then I'll have some numbers

I had a really big problem with lag about two months after I bought it. the pin fell out of the wast gate flapper arm and the actuator rod came off. no big deal just got some stainless wire and fixed it now it wont come off unless I want it to

While it is possible to run 11's on 16G size turbo (or even on a 14b if planets are aligning :), it would not be the norm. Most people run mid 12’s on well set-up 16Gs. If you want consistent 11’s you need something equivalent of a 20g.

If you are interested in a good 11 sec turbo, I am selling my old 20G. It ran the best of 11.36@122. Typical runs were in the 11.5-11.7 range.

You can find it at: http://www.gopartstrader.com/cgi-bi...ction=ad_maintenance&session=3ce46bb3694542cb

Exactly how easy is it to get a FP Big 28 to run 11's? I know that on FP's website, they list that 1 person has done it. Does the Big 28 need about the same amount of tuning that a big 16g would need to reach 11's? I really want this turbo because the price is right and it seems to have great potential. If this turbo cant run 11's consistantly, I may as well start off with a Green:cool:

Most of the cars I have read about with the Big 28 seem to only run in the low 13's. Jsut get a turbo with a 50 trim garrett wheel in it. Green, ETE32, full garrett...

ok everyone i need some help i got 900.00 for turbo but i need some help deciding i need something that is gonna hual some serious A$$ i already have 660cc injecters sitting in the garage i got a full 3inch exhuast no cats , safc, fmic, ectect... need some input !!! i was thinking big16G , or 18G im not sure lemme know what everyone thinks!!! thanx

I'll sell you my slightly used BR20g for $900... it's got a brand new exhaust housing which is setup for O2 mounted gate and was ported by forced performance.

if i were you, i would grab that br20 from ken. save up for the o2 and gate. since you have the supporting mods for the 20 i would grab it quickOMG

OK guys i just got a T3/T4(dont really know too much about it)But here is what i do know...it is a garrett 60-1 T3/T4 with a cast manifold, Its been ported and polished, and its flanged for a external on the #1 Runner. So what can i expect this thing to do with all the suporting mods i have done already???

When you say "rock" does that mean you ran a good time at the dragstrip?

For those of you wanting to know what turbo has done what:

What turbo should I use to make 450 hp. I want it to be streetable so I need an internal wastegate. If I could make more power and still be able to use it on the street I would be down with that.

You can use an external wastegate and still have a "streetable" car. FP Green with the right set up can put you at 400 + hp. I'm almost positive you can get it internally gated or externally. You just have to let them know obviously.

LOL, what supporting modifications do you have in mind?
