which pistons should i use??????

hi there well im currently building a 6 bolt motor and im wondering what pistons should i use on my 1g rods.My goal is 500whp finely tuned and my budget is 300 for pistons. any help will be appreciated thanks.

Pistons for 300 dollars the ones ive seen have been over 400 bucks on the vendors site,im doing a rebuild too. 400 and up are the ones ive seen.

You won't get much for $300 unless you're buying used or you're buying OEM.

I don't think you can get any new forged pistons for $300. You would have to go OEM if thats all your going to spend

The rods can handle 500 hp. I will be able to test this in 3 weeks as my EVO 9/1G big rod build will be done and getting tuned on E85. Shooting for 550 awhp.

The weak part of the rods would be the rod bolts. If you replace the stock bolts with some ARP's, 500's are doable but you will need a good tune to make it last longer.

If you can only afford $300 for pistons, you should seriously reconsider your 500whp goal.

Evolution 9 pistons are 300 for a set. Mitsubishi said that the evo long block would be able to handle 600 hp so I think that would be more than worthy for your build. Just a little machining will be required.

Why don't you ditch some of the Arp stuff and get a real set of rods and pistons. By the time you buy ARP rod bolts, have the rods resized, and machined for evo 9 pistons, you'll have more in them than a set of Eagle's.

Also, save the money from the ARP main studs, and put it toward a set of Mahle pistons. Mahle's are suposed to be better for a DD, because the alloy they use doesn't expand like wiseco, or most other pistons. This allows for a tighter ptw clearance, meaning better seal, longer life, ect...
