I'm told by the PO that there ar ARP headstuds in the car. Which he did have a arp head stud box and lube in there no paper and couldn't get a number off the box it was so greased.

How can I tell which ones i have?

This is for a 6 point motor

Pull the valve cover off and you'll be able to see them.

Yes they are stamped with arp on the tops of the studs, pulling the valve cover and taking a quick peak should help you figure it out. Also, the ARP part number for 6 bolt head studs is ARP 207-4201.

Okay, Pulled the cover and BOOM there arps. Now i'm just wondering are these arps any good? Will they hold out to 27psi? or so i go L19?

Also whats the nut size and I've heard/ read people say torque to 90lbs?

12 point socket 14 mm

torque to 90 with arp lube.
in 3 steps. 30 - 40 - 90

only way to tell if they are still good is to have measurements when they were still new to compare them to now.

As long as you're still running the 20g, you'll have no problems with the standard ARP studs. They should be torqued to 85 ft/lbs using the 3 step process. 30-60-85 ft/lbs with moly lube.

Yup, they will be sufficient for plans. Mine were 13mm, I'm not sure if all arp's are the same size though. Just do a quick search on how to torque these, there is a specific pattern you need to follow and the torque depends on what type of lube you use (moly lube or oil). There are already many different opinions on here so I won't clutter this forum and express my own, but do a little research and you will find what you are looking for.

I've just recently dumped the 20g and got a hy35 and i'm looking for 24-28psi running.

Also i'm gonna say that buddy used molylube. And they were put in before I got the car? Can I just try retorquing to 90ft. or should I still do the 30-60-90 pattern?

Were yours for a 7 bolt? I know 7 bolt headstuds are a mm smaller than 6 bolt studs. That may be why.

Those ARP's wo;; hold anything up to 30psi or to the limits of about 550 ish (seems past 30psi or MORE so in the airflow numbers that are needed to make 600+hp is whern you need the L19's.)

I've made 30psi daily for 3+ years on my plain ARPS, i ran them at 32psi for one day with no issues and that' s using a normal composite gasket.

I had made a long post about this not to long ago in some one elses threads and more than PSI i think the studs are more limited to the HP goas you have, andything up to 550 i think you'll be just fine as it seems guys making airflow for 600+ are always pushing more than 30psi which is why i think the "30psi rule" came into effect
