I just purchased a centerforce dual friction clutch for my Gsx 7 bolt and was wondering which flywheel to use? I mostly looking into the Act streetlite and the fidanza aluminum. Any other suggestions? The car doesnt go to the track and never any real hard launchs. Lots of hard acceleration pulls though.

Same here with the Fidanza and no issues. It's nice needing to only buy a replaceable friction surface rather than a new flywheel when it's worn out.

I have just read a few reviews about them warping. But the stock flywheel should fit what your looking for since your not looking for track or launches. If your not looking for 1/4 mile times or trying to auto cross, I would just put that money elsewhere.

That's cool, speak from experience only. I could write a review about how my ECM Link roundhouse kicked me and then grabbed a shotgun and put a hole in my block.

Fidanza is my recommendation as well and is what I ran on my GST and will run in this GSX.

I ran the fidanza flywheel and had some engagement issues so I tore it out. Now im getting my stock flywheel resurfaced and reinstalling it. If he's not going to hit the track or do any type of racing, will he actually need to spend the couple hundred on a flywheel when the stock will do the job? Or will he really benefit that much from the aftermarket?

I also said it happens on the AWD car. If he wants an aftermarket flywheel and is set on it, any of them will be fine since your not going to the track and said you don't do any hard launches.

Anytime you lighten the rotational mass you free up more power. The downfall is your RPMs drop as fast as they are made. Really the OP needs to determine what his goals are before deciding.

It's up to you, as stated, removing rotational mass frees up potential and power. They aren't expensive and the horse fly will bite and you will want more and more.

The only real issue I ever encountered was having too low of an idle and the RPM would drop below the target range before the ECU could react and it would stall. Idling at 850+ hasn't given me issues however.

Now Im wondering if a lightened flywheel is something I should even spend the money on?

With a 300 hp street car goal, no it's not needed. If you are on a budget, use the money elsewhere. An aluminum flywheel is nice and, as mentioned, frees up power but there are many others things that offer more "bang for your buck".

On a street car stick to a stock flywheel. You will loose the torque down low due to less rotating mass as it takes more momentum to get the car going with a lightweight flywheel. Sure, they do free up horsepower up top and rev quicker which is a good thing when drag racing in a lightweight car. I've seen cars running big heavy wheels and a lightweight flywheel (talking about going backwards):ohdamn:

my Fidanza flywheels gear ring just slipped. parked my car on a wed night, thursday morn went to start it, and all I heard was a rattle. thought it was my starter, when i pulled the starter out to replace it i reached inside and thought maybe the teeth were bad. when i rubbed my fingers over the teeth the whole gear ring rotated. i could move the gear ring all around the flywheel. idk if this happens alot with fidanzas, but i found a post on the evo m forum about a guy that had the same prob. i looking at the ACT Streelite as a replacement right now.

I've seen it happy ONE other time personally. It was a RD2 tiburon that had the same thing happen.
