ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

The clutch really doesn't engage any harder then a 2600. The disk simply has a Higher coefficient of friction which enables the clutch to bite harder when it gets hot. so in application you can slip the clutch a little and wait for it to bite. It does wonders for your 60 foot. I am currently out of stock of these little guys. I ordered 10 from the manufacturer but all were placed on order before they even got here. so now I have another batch on its way here. If you are interested in the clutch please call the shop and place your order now before they get here. Thanks again

ok i am replaceing my front axles on my 95 GSX and i also need a new clutch so i was wondering if i should order the new clutch and do it while i am doing axles or if i do it later how long will it take cause my axles are bad! what clutch should i get the ACT 2900 or the ACT 2100 i am planning on getting a EVO III turbo soon and some other stuff so what will be the best for me? also how long is it to do if i am doing the axels and how long if just clutch? thanks

nick

2600

If you are doing the clutch you will need to resurface the flywheel. I suggest the XACT flywheel.

Who are you getting your axles from?

so i should get the 2600? i am getting my axles from Raxles.com they have a thing about them on here. they were about 350$ for both and shipping kinda expensive but still thats let than dealer wanted for one axle. are you planning on getting some? if you do call Raxles talk to marty he is cool and let him know you are member of dsmtuners. if i get the XACT flywheel i wont need to get it resurfaced right? how much is it to have the flywheel resurfaced? thanks

nick

Of course it would be easier to just buy the ACT flywheel which is stepped to the correct measurement of the ACT clutch. Not sure how much a resurface is on the stock one, you would have to check with a local shop.

Another option for flywheels would be to get a lightened one from Road Race and use that instead. The xact is definately a good flywheel and the act2600 is a bomb ass clutch but fair warning "if you live in a busy busy bumper to bumper traffic town" you will grow to hate this clutch. Contary to what some people say. Its actually somewhat heavier than the stock clutches pressure.

Still a good clutch tho!
You would love it (just had it installed with my shep tranny).

Just replacing Axles is way easier then a clutch job. I say 2600. It's tried and true. Shep used the XACT flywheel in his 8 Second 1g. Shep also uses the 2900 but that would be major overkill for a evo III turbo. Def. 2600 and XACT flywheel.

I'm happy with my ACT2100. I live in an area with terrible traffic, so the 2600 was less appealing to me for the reason. However, I could definitely see my launches improving slightly with the 2600. If you don't have ridiculous traffic in your area, then the 2600 is probably a better bet. If you do, then the stock-like pedal pressure and significantly increased holding power of the 2100 will do the job.

I have already ordered them from him. Just using some awd axles and purchase his boot kits. 3 kits was around $44. He is a great guy.:thumb:

Will the 2100 slip all the time with my 50trim or just overheat when I try to do repeated drag strip type runs.?? I am also considering a 75 shot of spray and possbily some cams too so you guys think I need the 2600 for sure then?? I dont wan't to be changing clutches all the time.I plan on mostly street driving the car and it won't likely see the track more than once or twice..It would get kicked off for under 11.99.

But will be doing some 4000 rpm street launches pretty frequently.

Would a car with a 2100 dyno lower than a car with a 2600 due to slippage??

hmm i just ordered a feramic clutch two weeks ago but isnt yet installed because of machv and their crappy service. so i cant give u my inputs on this clutch. i was suppose to be recieving my clutch fork 2nd day air, but its now been two weeks and yet i still havent recieved it.

cfdf 2500 is now on sale for 310 so that might be a great grab

many fwd dsmers go with act 2100, so that might be ur best choice.

AWD 2600...why?
with a 2100 u wount be able to get out of the hole quick enough. Sometimes it will slip not being able to hold that much pressure for tyin to launch all that weight

FWD 2100...why??
with a 2600, you will be breaking driveline parts on a FWD for no reason. A 2100 is way less harsh than a 2600 and since youll be launching a FWD istead of AWD you dont need that extra harsh power. Itll be easier to feather out the 2600 is almost impossible

This is just my opinion:
I would never buy another Centerforce/Exedy clutch after my last experience.

This happened 3 months after I installed the clutch, and it wasn't even on my Eclipse. My old little 1.5L Mirage did that! 92HP rated at the flywheel and it ripped it in two! I wonder how long it would've lasted if I hadn't babied it while I was breaking it in.
I've done several clutch installs. I've got an associates degree in auto tech (also ase certified in a few fields), so they can't say that I don't know how to install it properly. Do you think Centerforce would replace it? absolutely not. :thumbdown
my Eclipse had a CF when I bought it. it was pretty decent while it was in there, but I don't think I drove it more than 20 miles before I installed an ACT.

That sux to see that. I've had a CFDF for over a year now, and it's been perfect for me. But since it's a FWD guy asking......stay away from the 2600, unless breaking shit is a national pastime for you.

what clutch should i go with my goal is mid 12s. what could support that? im thinking act 2100 but im not if that can handle that. so should i just go with the ACT 2600.

hmmmmmmm....... GST, FWD, Mid 12's.

heres what I think that would work Great.

Slicks, LSD center diff, and a 2600. ur axles will probly be ur weak point, Polyurthane bushings( for teh wheel hop). Unless ur Car is already modded that Keeps cookin Stock clutches, Ide do every thing else before the clutch.
