ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

anybody have this clutch ^^^, i'm seriously thinking of getting it probably sometime this week as my clutch seems to be going away very fast , slips alot and the t.o.b. is starting to make alot of noise.

I have it, love it. Alot of people from st.louis have it and love it. The person who got this clutch out to the dsm people is from st.louis so tahts why we all here have it and no one that has gotten it has complained about it. Everyone loves it. Like i said it has gone 11's on one of ams evos. I know of a 20g car around here that runs 12s and has it. Also it holds and holds well, no slipping or anything. My personal opion is its a great clutch and i would go for it.

how does it handle repeated launching? My clutch is toast too, and im looking at all my options. This ams one has caught my eye, but im not finding much info on em. Like how long they last, how they hold up to launching or slipping. id just like to know a lil more b4 i buy one.

i made 7 passes in 45 mintues all 60fts 1.9 or below. THis was before i learned how to launch the car so they were all high 1.8 and low 1.9's WIth no slipping. Then i made 4 passes in an hour and all were 1.7 60fts launching from 6k. So it can handle repeated launches.

I have had mine for 20,000 miles now and the first 10 i really didnt drive it hard but still put it to good use. But i was getting all my upgrades done. The last 10k i have put quite a few passes on it, beat it to hell really. And it still holds. There was a kid who had 25k on his and he took it out (7bolt walked on him) and it looked brand new. Mine has the 20k on it and still holding perfectly fine.

Iv heard different things from different people on drivablity. Some say it grabs too hard for them (only 2 people iv herd say this and they were pretty much stock) But everyone else loves it. Drivablity is not hurt like a 6 puck or somthing also peddle pressure is stock, since its a stock pressure plate still. Some people say when they got it that they didnt care for the "feel" of the clutch but put on a SS clutch line and those problems went away. I have not had these problems with it and im still using stock clutch line and i like it. YOu can slip it unlike a puck disc. and it is ment to take a beating. I like it and im sure other people will too. It will be the clutch i get over and over again.

IF my car crankwalks, that will finally give me a good reason to buy a 4g64. So either way I'll win. :)

sounds cool man, i might just have to give it a shot, price is definately better than a 2600, so i might end up with one of em. As for drivability, i've been driving around my buddies evo with a clutchmasters stg3, pretty grabby, but i don't mind it too much. its a segmented carbon-kevlar disk. So i guess that's all i really have to go off of, so hopefully its equal to or less grabby then his. thanx for the info

anyone know where I can get the feramic disk? price? website? etc. I am interested in trying this disk out with the 2600 pressure plate.

with a six puck make sure u have a trann ready after each pass.

your going to be breakin spider gears.

a six puck has no slip its either engaged or disengaged so when u drop the clutch at 5g's you better be ready to replace the tranny.

you can bet the ferramic at AMS but they are out of them currently, although they are on order

so AMS are te only ones tat can get or carry the feramic disc?

if so, damn.

Im not for sure if they fit 6bolts or not. Go to ams's website and email them and ask.

And like it said on the website these clutches go fast so you almost have to get on a waiting list to get one.

and yes AMS is the only place that carries these clutchs

Do these put more, less, or equal stress on the drive train as an ACT2600?

i would probably say less since it uses a stock pressure plate. But the material that is used on the disc itself could make the stress jump up a bit, but i would think it would not be greater than a 2600 no matter what. My guess would be lower for the pressure plate reason. But like i said im no expert on the clutch i would email ams.

This is completely untrue according to 95% of this site that uses the act2600. The clutch will not cause crankwalk, its improper adjustment of the clutch and other items that will cause more force on the crank.

If anyone actually has any REAL PROVEN FACTS of the act2600 causing crankwalk then by all means post it. But I can honestly say I think noone has that sort of information at all.

thats nice and all but here is somthing for you...

If you are concerned about crankwalk, then yes ACT pressure plates add additional thrust force. It won't cause crankwalk, but it certainly doesn't help.

hmm coming from the president/cto of act.. Interesting... very interesting.

Nothing wrong with them...stock replacement with a claimed 5-10% over stock holding power. Other exedy are like centerforce and ACT but not as known.
Andrew

10% over stock is pretty weak. I would seriously look into a ACT2600. You won't regret that clutch. I know that EXEDY CLUTCHES are big with drifters because they can handle excessive clutch dumps and maybe more. That is what I heard at least. But if its only 10% over on average, then I don't see how it will ever hold.
