ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

2100 should be ok and feels much like stock, 2600 may be overkill and will have increased pressure in the pedal, youre call... 2100 will hold well, 2600 may be overkill... but not a bad choice I suppose

yes i agree completely, the 2100 will work great with your mods. really a 2600 is not needed unless youre running lots of hp/torque with a LSD or AWD. a 2100 is perfect for any streetable FWD setup. i love my 2100.

I am running the 2600 with the 6 puck unsprung disk. For me it is over kill for the street since my car sees more daily driving (college) use than racing. The 2600 will give you a stiff pedal but you will get used to it easily after driving a couple days. If you are planning on putting down some good horsepower soon I would go with the 2600 and you should be satisfied. :dsm:

Awesome, not 1 "CW is caused by 2600 on 2G's" post!

Go with the 2100 for now and if you decide to go higher in the HP range you can sell the 2100 PP and get a 2600. Atleast get some of your money back. Your car will be just fine with the 2100, the 2600 would be more of a an EXTRA insurance policy. Up to you.

I am using a 2600 and a street disc. It feels almost like stock. Atleast to me it does. Again, up to you. :thumb:

yea, unless you have serious mods 2100 is good for FWD

and i feel that 2600 is excellent for AWD.

Pedal pressure and wheels driven don't make one better than the other. The first part of you statement made sense, but the FWD/AWD doesn't.

Theres more pedal pressure Becaaauuuse.

The 2600 pressure plate is allot stronger and when dealing with an AWD tranny which takes more to get going to go thru its whole system to four wheels whereas the FWD only require the front two and its less on the tranny.

so with that, something that takes more to get going, requires (well not requires but imo performs beter) a clutch to grab it and not let go.

im sorry for my incoherance having one of those days.

but again, CW this, CW that. most likely. but oh well.
Bought my car with the 2600 must have around 20k on the clutch no signs of CW whatsoever. I love how it grabs and doens't slip and I wouldn't wan tthe 2100. Hell if my 7 bolt goes gives me an excuse to get a 6 bolt.

Go with a 2100 it will be the perfect choice for a fwd. Plus you don't want to have to deal with a blown master cylinder because of the 2600 pressure plate. 2100's have ran 11's in awd with no problem it'lll be just fine for your setup. I would also reccomend getting lsd too. I picked up a bm lsd insert for $200 and threw that in when i put my 2100 and flywheel in and all i have to say it that it won't even feel like the same car....

well i went to buschur racing today and got the act 2100 im pitting it in on sunday thanx for the help guys most of you said 2100 so i got. ill let you know how i like it thanx

Check the Pivot ball and Fork!!!

50$ total!!!

fork can snap, and pivot ball gets worn down and doesnt provide as much leverage as a new one does.

Well worth it IMO!!!

Yes, that is the well worth the purchase. Every reputable DSM trans and even Satan suggest this.

Hey...

I dont wanna be a jerk... but since we are on the topic of clutch's I
thought I'd ask: which clutch is better for my 1G (1990 tsi AWD).

Mods:
-Jdm trans+motor
-14b
-Ported 2g manifold/02 housing
-3" Exhaust System to the stock DP
-intake
-Boost gauge
-Mbc 12 psi
-free mods

ACT 2600 or 2100?

Thanks alot

:dsm: :talon:

personaly i would go with the Exedy Organic just because its reliable and the face that the ACT market is kind of going to shit right now because of the recent failures.

2600 indefinitly for any AWD at or past basic modifications.

ACT is fine as long as you install them properly. (like put in the dowel pins) Mine has been fine and will continue to be fine b/c it was installed properly. A 2600 would be fine for your setup plus you don't have to worry about crankwalk. BTW, clutches don't cause crankwalk!!!
