Woodbury,
I am looking at replacing my BOV. I was looking at the Greddy XS, but I seem to be seeing people with Greddy problems aplenty. What BOV do you like? Why?

Also, what is a safe PSI for a stock turbo? I hear rumors that anything beyond 14 will raise hell on the engine.

Thanks for your help!

you can't recirculate the TiAL or the RFL. In my experience with other people's cars, any Turbo XS BOV is junk, they have a crappy piston style of valve that secures on to its flange using like 3 hex bolts, which means it can very easily create a nice boost leak for you. Plus, all the Turbo XS BOV's look ghey in an engine compartment. I'd say go with TiAL (although they only vent so you'd have to get a VPC, standalone, or GM MAF-T) or HKS (buy the recirculation kit for it also, venting is ###).

Tial would be the best overall, but the best for you would be a crushed 1g valve due to price, and based on the "projected" mods in your profile.

Don't go with the Turbo XS RFL. If you want a XS go with the H34. The RFL vents into the atmosphere and messes up the engines reading of air. The H34 vents back into the MAS and no problems occur. i had the RFL and when i smashed it there would be a cut off or boggle b/c of the miscalculation. I would go HKS or Tial, which I heard is really nice.

Ya i dont wnat to vent. So ill stay away form those ones you cant recirculate. I guess to look at it form an economist stand point im better off with the 1g cbv.

Just to clarify, TiAL doesn't recirculate, and you vent into the intake after the MAS, not into it :p . Also, Turbo XS stuff is junk, and I don't care if they say RFL stands for really friggin' loud, because it's just as loud as any other blow off valve. From personal experience, my HKS vented was 10 times louder than this kid's WRX with the RFL. Venting gets really annoying really quick IMO.

might as well spend more money on other preformance parts rather than a more expensive bov. is sound really worth an extra 150 bucks when you could almost buy something like injectors?

Yeh...Out of the ones you mentioned, I would either go HKS or 1g...not Turbo XS. The Greddy isn't bad...but whatever...

well i'm confused now.. it seems like the only one u guys agree on is 1g.

i wanna get something that will work and perfrom the best.. but i wouldn't mind have that nice wooshh sound as well.

so i don't know which one to get anymore??

hey rdogg the 1g is the most reliable bov and the cheapest. stay away form the rfl because it cant be vented back into the intake. the hks ssq can be vented back into the intake. the only downside of the 1g is it dosent make a loud woooosh pm me or klos2002 on aim if you have questions about this i have done alot of research on this topic.

my 1g makes some noise when i shift . i just bought the car the way it is, lightly modified. but the bov looks factory, it hisses when i shift is that normal?

What about the Apexi? You can pick it up for like 150. There was one on a repo 2G EXACTLY like my car(color, year, GST) that just had the AVCD, a boost gauge, upper IC, an old turbo timer. It sounded nice and didn't run funny at all (took it for a test drive, very impressive for what it was). The Apexi was vented to the atmosphere but the car ran fine, no hesitation or idle problems...... I liked it?

I havent heard anything bad about the Apex Dual Chamber. You cant recirc. it, as you know, and few people run it (probley because of the looks), but I say why not get something others dont have? Hell, everyone around my neck of the woods has a Type-S, I used to have one myself. Ive always loved the HKS, and I havent regretted getting it ever.

Yeah Dieselboy there's a kid in PA(not joey) with a 3kgt that has the SSQ and it does him pretty well. It not only sounds nice (not too important) but has been on the car for a long time without any problems. I personally liked the Apexi on that GST but if it has to dump back to the intake pipe then the 1st gen is your cheapest and best bet. The HKS will perform better IMO but it all depends on your budget.

how much boost can the stock 2G bov hold?
how much can a 1G Bov hold?
greddy type s ?

i'm trying to narrow down my choices here, cause i wanna buy one this week.
