Woodbury,
I am looking at replacing my BOV. I was looking at the Greddy XS, but I seem to be seeing people with Greddy problems aplenty. What BOV do you like? Why?

Also, what is a safe PSI for a stock turbo? I hear rumors that anything beyond 14 will raise hell on the engine.

Thanks for your help!

i have a 1g BOV and it does it job great....but the lil ricer in me wants to hear the noise so i MIGHT end up gettin an HKS down the road...iono

I was planning on getting a greddy type-s Bov and i planned on venting to the atmosphere but as i was looking at the blow off valves i noticed the hks SSQ Bov says "vents to atmosphere" under the description and the type-s does not. So i was wondering if the hks was better for venting to the atmosphere. I know the topic on venting to the atmosphere is asked alot but i just wanted some advice before i spend my money. I have a 96 gs-t w/ the stock turbo. Any help appreciated

get your self a tial, i have it and i vent. but i also have gm maft setup so i dont lose the power. if you want to vent for that noise then sell your car now because you wasteing a great car. venting will cause your car to die out and run like crap. trust me i had to do it for 3 months and i hated it so bad.

by the way tial sounds alsome

hey guys i was wondering which BOV you would recomend as far as best sound and dependability (such as no problems with it)

I'd recommend the Greddy Type-S. I have it and I really love it.

Sound is always personal opinion, but I think the Type-S is one of the best sounding BOVs. I thought the HKS was too loud, and the BLITZ didnt have the sound I was looking for. The greddy Type-S has a sort of "whip-crack" sound combined with a whistle. All my friends including my brother (domestic fanboy) has said my BOV is awesome.

Good luck.

A stock 1g vented sounds better than anything I've ever heard. why would you want to change unless its hindering your performance, are you running 20psi+? if not its pointless to change...

just take off your recric, and plug it, and see how you like that sound. personally it sounds like a real air pressure shooting out :p and its louder than most stuff ive heard

It is not advised that you tell someone to just "vent to the atmosphere" without the proper setup or the proper mods to run this way. It can actually HINDER performance

Venting To the atmosphere... Isn't recommended without the proper setup.

Big bov thread.

Favorite BOV (big tuners poll).

BOV that isnt vented thread...
Loudest Bov Not Vented

Check out those links.
They should give you some good information as far as bov recommendations go.

Sorry, I meant JUST see how you like the sound.

I should have added that, you can acheive that sound once you get a setup for example a MAF-T and then you can vent "without problems.

I myself am venting and see MUCH better spool up, and I have stock MAF... so actually I don't think that it hinders performance.

A guy at the track ran .3 better with his BOV vented and plugging his recirc. Said he got MUCH better spool up times.

I myself have seen 1-2 cars that cant run vented, but i have heard of alot of people/friends that their car can't.

Maybe I dont have problems cuz my engine is in good shape, and it has 68009 miles on it right now... but i have run venting for a good 1500 miles... and if you don't mind the gas you blow... then its worth it if you like quicker spool-up and scaring off the little ricers...

do you have an intake filter on it yet? i dont know about you others, i just put on a K&N filter off ebay and you can hear the psst from down the street. i was at a stop and i revved at a bunch of integras 100 feet away and they all heard the BOV and looked. its pretty loud stock. i originally bought the Turbo XS RFL and i didnt know any better, but then i learned that its bad to vent without programming for the loss of air that the computer already thinks is gonna be there, so it runs rich. and could cause problems later in life. so i sent it back and im waiting on the Greddy type-S. if its loud now just stock, i cant wait till i hear the type-s.

I have a upper IC pipe with the stock Bov attached....is there any Bov that will bolt directly to this flange with out any modifications?
