Woodbury,
I am looking at replacing my BOV. I was looking at the Greddy XS, but I seem to be seeing people with Greddy problems aplenty. What BOV do you like? Why?

Also, what is a safe PSI for a stock turbo? I hear rumors that anything beyond 14 will raise hell on the engine.

Thanks for your help!

If you want something mean sounding, don't the the SSQV. It's the girliest sounding bov ever.

i was wondering what bov will hold more then 25 psi??? i was looking at the turbo xs but it will only hold 24psi what bov do you recomend i am going to be running atleast 24psi or even more...

HKS SSQV it works on a push pull system to insure no boost leak from the BOV, i have one and not only do they work nice but there loud as hell :) alot louder than the Greddy Type S

The stock bov is going to be great for you for quite a long time. No sense in spending $200+ on a cool sounding BOV until you really need it. I'd go for the SSQV as it can be recirculated, unless you planning on getting a blowthrough setup sometime down the road.

Turbonetics raptor. Tested to 29 PSI with no leaks and can be recirculated. I will be selling mine soon if you are interested.

i dont both to waist my time typing in my mods why would it matter if you did anyway what would be accomplished??? is anything it would intrigue bench racing.....

anyway back to the topic.... i hear allot about the tial and the hks ssqv being good.... how much boost can these hold and/or what are you running on urs??

ryan

I don't think you will be running 25psi for awhile. And once you are ready, you shouldn't be on a mafs. Anyways, most leak somewhat.

Tested by some high hp supras both the hks ssqv and greddy type s both leak above 25 psi. The turbo xs is run in the turbo xs race car(running over 30 psi). you just add washers to the spring.

The greddy and hks RACE SERIES bovs(type r) are better suited for high boost.

THE ABSOLUTE best on the market is tial. Does not leak.

P.S. I am not biased, as I have the greddy type s on my supra(only running 18 psi) and have had the HKS ssqv and am now using the Turbo xs.

Take it easy......There are many reason why you should complete your profile and none has anything to do with bench racing, I'll give you a couple,

1. It's the rule.
2. It helps us help you better. In this case if you're completely stock, BOV should not be on top of your mod list, the stock 1g BOV should be sufficient enough for a while as some others has suggested. Now if you're not stock it would be a different story. It's like a new kid comes in and first question he or she asks is which turbo, I would say get the supporting mods first.

Just trying to help. :thumb:

there are plenty of blow off valves that will hold 25+ psi. HKS SSQV, HKS racing, hks racing type II, GReddy type S, GReddy Type RS, Tial, Blitz. It depends on what your goals are. It is easier to figure out what type of valve you should get based on horsepower rather than on psi.

i read allot about the ssqv and the design seems very sturdy..... the more pressure behind it the more it stays closed.... i think i am going to go with it, i dont ever plan on running more then 28 i jsut dont see the reason.... i will prolly run 16-18 daily driven adn then turn it up to 24-25 when needed...

The SSQV is a very good blow off valve. I actually have that on my 2g that im selling, it doesnt leak and it is very loud. I like it and all my friends like it too. You probably wont need anything like a tial, just figure out what you would like it to sound like and go from there, most of them out there should not have a problem holding 24 - 25 psi. The only one i have heard of that has a problem is the Turbo XS RFL. I like the SSQV though. :thumb:
