Woodbury,
I am looking at replacing my BOV. I was looking at the Greddy XS, but I seem to be seeing people with Greddy problems aplenty. What BOV do you like? Why?

Also, what is a safe PSI for a stock turbo? I hear rumors that anything beyond 14 will raise hell on the engine.

Thanks for your help!

holy crap you posted like 3 seconds after i started the thread, do you need to do any heavy modding to put the greddy type-s on (i.e. weld on adapters) or is it direct fit? is it loud?

you want loud go with the turbo xs rfl , or the turbonetics raptor bov is a good one . If you want a good bov that will hold a good amount of boost . Go type - s and / or hks ssqv . Buddy is running 22 psi on his type s . Its vented so its pretty loud.

Are all those BOV's you listed direct fit? what is the best BOV that i dont need to weld an adapter plate on for it to work (cant weld+no welder)

Do you have an upgraded UICP? In your profile there is none...Most IC pipes come pre-flanged for the popular BOV's (including Type-s) which then saves you the hassle of welding a flange on yourself...I'm just assuming you don't have one b/c if you really do not, you will need one any way because they are restrictive and prone to blowing off...

...but for the original question, the greddy type-s seems to be the choice of the majority of the DSMTuners...Plus, Ebay has them for around $150(no-flange) which is an un-beatable price :thumb:

No i dont have new IC piping i was waiting to buy the piping when i got my new IC i was looking at the dejon tool smic so i guess i was gonna use their piping. thanks for the info

all you have to do is drill some holes in the stock flange to fit the Type S, you need the adapter or new flange for the others. Type S is good because it can recirculate or vetn and is loud both ways.

Sweet, BOV thread number 10,438,904,950,649.

If you crush the stock 1G BOV, it will handle almost anything the B16G can dish out. If you must have the Type-S, it will work with any 1G BOV flange. All you need to do is drill just to the inside of the 1G BOV bolt holes and your done. Make sure you use the Type-S gasket (maybe even a little RTV).

Agreed. To the person who recommended an open atmosphere BOV....shut it.

which bov will hold the most boost, so far i know that the turboxs will hold upto 24 psi and i am in need of one the is about 26-28 psi

ryan

Yes the HKS is rated to 45psi and Im sure the Tial 50mm is rated near that as well.....both are my personal favorites. Keep in mind, though, the Bailey Motorsports dump valve is rated well over 60psi :)

guys helpme choose a bov to buy...my setup is very basic, exhaust, FMIC, 16g, afc, probably clutch and flywheel..so help me out guys :dsm:

Greddy Type-S...But cmon man, honestly actually do a search or better yet just look through the forums...I have answered this same question 3 times TODAY!!!! You will find lots of opinions and answers if you actually look around and stop being lazy

if ur gonna recirculate, either 1g or hks, i hate the way the type s sounds. if u r goin to vent, properly of course, the blitz sounds awesome.

I say the Greddy Type-S. It is simple and makes me wanna have sexual relations with my car ever time i let off the gas. I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMEN! Ok yea so greddy gets my vote.

personally, ive run a crushed 1G, greddy type s & type r, hks ssqv, and blitz dd

if you are running less than 20lbs, run a crushed 1G. if you are running more than that, run with either ssqv or type s

i didnt like the blitz at all and the type r is for bigger turbo applications.

no i did not rip this name off cuz my auto club is called "stay tuned"........what do you mean by vent and recirculate?....sorry i am new to this............i have heard the apexi and i like that....everyone around me rocks the greddy....i dont want to use the 1g its too common....i am trying to somewhat be a little different with my options than the guys around me....i also like the way the blitz dd sounds but if it doesnt do the job then its useless.....so i guess my choice is between the HKS, APEXi, or BLITZ.....
