Where are the FWDs at????

I will probably get a crummy trap or hit the wall fromo torque steer when I get my fwd to the track. I have a GT35R and 26x10x15 slicks on weld rims but no LSD.

I just basically read through this whole tread and found it rather useful. My best run last season was a 14.2 @ 97 MPH with these mods : 2G throttle body elbow, warblo 190, MBC at 15psi, full 2 1/2" exhaust, all the free mods, crap tires and a stock clutch. After I got all my body work done and my FMIC installed I went to the track again with a slipping clutch and only managed a 14.7 @ 100.7 MPH(2.7 60' ) Over the winter i added: CFDF clutch, MAFT & CAI and Prothane motor mounts. Now when i go back I have no excuse for not being in the 13's (hopefully mid). I also hope to port out the 2G exhaust manifold I have and port my 14b and possibly get some slicks to be in the low 13's/ high 12's. I didnt quite reach my goal of 13's last summer, but we'll see how I do this year.

-Do you guys/girls think that 22X8 slicks would be big enough for my plans or should i go for 24.5X8?

Launch it easy bro. I would hate for you to break that diff right on the line. GT35R + slicks (w/o LSD) = trouble for your tranny. Atleast you have a good set of lightweight wheels. Good luck at the track.

Am I nieve to think I will have no problems busting out a 2.1 60' on the stock open diff?
I mean I have been practicing launching a lot lately with a 3200rpm stutterbox and I can get through all of 1st gear without any wheelhop or spin, and I can get the car moving quickly as well. Shift outta 1st around 5500rpms, hit 2nd and floor it... it spins a lil above 5000 in 2nd but not enough to slow it down any. It's all about controlling your throttle position and clutch off the line.
Its my judgement that 2.1 60' will be a piece of cake... my mods are limited... maf-t, ecu chip, ported manifold, and steel 2.5" ic/intake piping running about 15psi.

a 2.1 is very doable on the stock open diff. I did it on street tires in a heavier 2g. Just lower the tire pressure, don't burn out, keep it around 3kish, and slip the shit out of the clutch and you shouldn't have a problem doing a 2.1 short time.

Ya thats what I thought, I've been doing all this "practicing" in dry condtions with my winters and they hook very nice, so I'm gonna race on them this summer forsure! As for keeping it around 3000 RPM's I have the stutterbox set to 3200 and it's an absolute joy to launch with, allows me to keep the revs steady while keeping the throttle around 50% open. I was planning on running 35 psi in the back tires and 15-20 in the front.
Gotta show my heavily modded FWD friend it doesnt take much to run in the 13s...
Hes modded up the wazoo and runs a best of 13.7@110ish or more MPH, and I have been running my mouth a good bit lately...
=)

wow. a lot of e-timing going on here. you haven't been into the 13's yet and are calling for 12's. good luck with that mod list. 15 psi doesn't stand a chance in the hot place of getting into the 12's on a fwd car. you might get mid 13's with slicks, but again, it's all e-racing, it doesn't mean a thing. you should check out the 1/4 times (for fwd's) and compare their mods with yours. find one that is similar, that will give you a better look at what you "might" run.

everytime a FWD talks about launching, everyone assumes spin is the factor to bad 60 ft's. Another thing to keep in mind is bogging off of the line. That was my case for the first time I went to the track. I was pulling 2.6 60's and worse the entire time because of my inability to control the bogging. I've tried slipping, dumping, different RPMs, etc.

just something to think about.

Manual Tranny launches. The idea with a manual car is to get the suspension to absorb the first "shock" of the clutch being dropped- If you tighten up the suspension too much it will not hook and you will get wheel hop! Just wind it up and let it rip- the tires will spin just a foot or two (that's the idea) and if you got it just right with a car my weight (3000lbs) 1.89-1.90 short times can be had.

Turbo's don't make real boost till they are under a load- When you launch this way the tires spin a bit to keep engine from bogging AND generates exhaust flow & load to get the turbo up to speed.

So what I like to do is build a few psi off the line, spin the first very few feet, and then it hooks up well.

Read up on FWD traction by the turbo dodge guys, they know what they are talking about.

I never ran with all the mods that you underlined if you read my post all the way through. And Yea, i know 12's would be tuff with just those mods, so I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO GET MORE MODS to be in the high 12's. But yes, in all honestly I probably wont be albe to make 12's with those mods and I wont by anymeans be dissapoint if I dont with just those mods. And its a MBC, so I'll probably try race gas and 18-20 psi, we'll see, I havent had a chance to play with it yet.

I current have everything boostin_2_high has except for the porting on the 14b turbo and he ran a 13.004

WTF You have open tracks in Ohio at this time of year? Where's my flag...

Its not impossible. Its not that cold in Ohio, I assume. RaceWay Park in New Jersey opened yesterday. IT'S ON (evil grin)

a couple key factors here. 1: he's obviously a good driver with that 60' and has slicks.
2: his race weight was 2750!?!? <--(how the heck did he pull that off)? 3: i don't know how the heck he got that kind of whp out of stock injectors. (only on race gas i suppose).

ask any fwd on here, this guy's time is RARE for that mod list.

Click on his e.t. for details.

1.9 60' on slicks
13.0 but at only 106mph
14b
race gas

i was trapping 106 mph on a 14b and stock injectors on pump gas, but I couldn't hook up so my best was a 14.05 .

I know he has slicks and I know they would be needed to get into the 12's. I also know its rare, but atleast there is some hope.:p:)

Me I gonna try to break the 11s this summer.

actually I ran 12.3 @ 119mph on a evo3 16g.

I change the turbo for a ball-bearing agp l2r, with hks cam, and smim.

hope to do 122mph+ on pump gas.

I for one only dream of having traction this year! LOL. Hopefully I will be able to break 11's as well. I have some serious issues to work out right now. I have a huge boost leak that developed in my TB(I can't hold ####ing 12 pounds of air for more than like 2 seconds!!!), I am blowing out spark even with the plugs gapped as small as .022OMG , and I NEED meth/water injection. Then I hope to see some good times. I am a good 40whp down from my high dyno numbers of 402whp so something serious needs to happen if I want to turn some good times.

Hey whats up my fellow fwd'ers. I haven't had time to go to the track yet but I would like some opinions and suggestions on my setup before I head over there. I'm looking to get into the very low 13's/high 12's before summer and if i hit that I'll up my goals. Let me know what ya'll think I'm running so far. Here's my setup so far.:talon:
-HKS 264/272 cams
-Unorthodox underdrive pulley
-Buschur front mount intercooler
-Buschur full 3inch exhaust
-Buschur 3inch downpipe
-test pipe
-2g MAS
-Injen Intake
-255 walbaro fuel pump
-550cc injectors
-Manual boost controller
-Ported 2g exhaust manifold
-3" tubular 02 housing w/ external dump
-Evo 3 B16G turbo
-Blitz BOV
-8mm magnecore wires
-ACT 2600 clutch w/ streetdisk
-short shifter
-Aeromotive FPR
