just wondering when drivetrain parts start to break when youre racing or driving hard. like what power levels or launching? i know that the tranies arent the strongest, but im more concerned about other things like the t-case, rear end and shafts.
right now i have installed a tre stage 3 awd trans, act 2600 street disc streetlight flywheel.
and the factory lsd rear end all on a 96 tsi.
so tell me your personal experiences:thumb:

Well I can tell you those mods are enough to bend/twist the driveshaft as my friend did it long ago by dropping his act 2600 at 5500 rpm like a dumbass :)

Your weak link is still the tranny, start saving money for the rebuild.

i already stated that i am aware of our weak tranies. im asking for personal experiance with the other driveline parts.
i had a buddy of mine run a act 2100 with an improperly adjusted clutch peddle. he kept on hot roddin around town while his proud new clutch slipping very noticably and after 1.5 weeks his pressure plate shattered turning in to shrapnel. it totaly killed his belhousing, shot holes in his radiator, and literaly cut through the coolant line for the turbo.
bet that will make some of you rethink not getting a scatter shield.

so i guess no one here has ever had a drive line piece break huh? LOL......

I have had a few broken drive line parts!! Just not on a 2g.

I broke a center diff and a pinon gear in my rear end! My hp was around 350awhp!

Main problem is 4th gear. We need a new 4th designed from the ground up. The stocks are just weak. Shep may be working on a solution (word in the background) I hope he is.

the 2g have problems with the rearends. the sub-frames twist or get out of alignment and blow the rear diff. that is why many are doing the rear diff bushings, and some people are working on the sub-frame mounts to the chassis. Magnus has fixed the rearend but it is not cheep.(you do get what you pay for, but dsmers are f'ing cheap.)

I'll give you a piece of advise, you can take it or leave it. You've stated that your tranny is upgraded along with a few other components. It sounds like you've got a check list and are looking to move to another weak point, normally I'd agree with that strategy. If I were naive, I'd assume my tranny is upgraded so I can move to the next item. WRONG. Save your penny's, don't waste it on axle upgrades, driveshafts or other useless garbage. Take that money, put it in the bank, and save it for when your "built" tranny fails again. The majority of the drivetrain excluding the engine is located INSIDE the transmission.

I've broken 1 stock tranny and 2 TRE upgraded tranny's and 0 driveline parts. Probably laying down on average 350 w.h.p. and as high as 400 w.h.p. on racing gas. It never occured to me to worry about transfer case failures, axle breakage, rear end failures. I'm on built tranny #3. I've got the mileage marked down and am ready to rebuild it at the 10,000 mile mark when they typically fail at this power level.

So I have 120,000 miles on the stock "weak" driveline parts, and at best 10,000 miles on any "built" tranny. Makes you think;)
