Yeah my TSI shakes really bad when i break and when im breaking at higher speeds is shakes good awful bad any ideas what could cause this?

i changed pads on it and hit around and beat on stuff but nothing seems lose and it has new roters on it so i dont think its that.

could bad socks cause it to shake?

If you're breaking it then why are you worried about shaking?

On the other hand, if you're braking, it could be warped rotors. How many miles do you have on the new rotors? Does your steering wheel shake? Is this condition only when braking?

I'm pretty sure bad socks don't cause shaking. As a matter of fact, I drive barefoot all the time and do not experience any shaking.

I got all four new fruit of the loom socks and my shit is tight now yo!

If you replaced the brake pads you should have got new rotors as well. Or at least have your old ones turned. Its real easy to warp a set of these cheapo tiny mitsu brakes :(

if your pedal is pulsating or steering wheel is shaking when you apply the brakes the rotors are warped. if you feel it in the steering wheel its the front and if you feel it in the seat its the rear. its really easy to warp rotors if you do not torque the wheels to the right spec. aftermarket rotors, like advanced auto parts or autozone are even easier to warp.

It sounds like the rotors are warped. I work at Carmax as a mechanic and every time I test drive a car that has vibration when braking is due to warped rotors. You don't have to buy new rotors, just have them resurfaced, sand down the brake pads and put some BG on them and your set bro.

Warped rotors and or sticking caliper hardware. if a caliper hold down pin is frozen then that is a guaranteed pulsation or shaking... I see those kind of problems all day at my shop...There you go. Two techs from very similar shop telling you the same thing...I work at midas

Yeah your right on that too. To fix the sticking calipers, just take out the brake pads and put brake grease around the corners and edges where the caliper and the brake edges me. "Trust the Midas touch!"

yeah the stearing wheel dose shake real bad and it seems hard to stop when its shakeing that bad but i will pull off a rotor and see if its warped but i belive its the sticking caliper problem.

You're not going to be able to see it warped.... YOU NEED TO REPLACE OR RESURFACE the rotors when doing a brake job. Just DO IT RIGHT BRO. If you are removing the calipers guide pins you should re-grease them with the right type of grease. There is a silicone lube made specifically for the caliper guide pins. DO NOT just use any old grease.

It cost $10 dollars to have a shop resurface the rotors.

Always replace rotors and pads when doing brake job. Will solve your problems =]

Usually when "doing a brake job" you're replacing pads. Replacing the rotor every time is a waste as they should last through several sets of pads. However, resurfacing is a must. Also a must is greasing the caliper guide pins, making sure the tiny boots aren't torn, torquing to spec and bleeding the brake lines once in a while.

This are sloted rotors so im sure it will cost a pretty penny to redo if they can do it.

If your steering wheel shakes real bad then while you have it jacked up check your tie-rod ends and ball joints. Unless your rotors are so out of round that your current problem with your brakes continues then you would obviously have noise. If your brake pedal pulsates its the rotors and possibly caliper hardware. If your steering wheel shakes its your chassis......

Definitely sounds like warped rotors...but you can check the other possibilities like mentioned above. Bushings and Tie Rods.

Warped rotors...end of story. Tie rods and ball joints? Where the heck did you get that? The noise only happens when he brakes at high speeds. I don't believev its sticking calipers, if it was sticking calipers the brake pads would drag causing the car to brake more on one side, making the car brake at an angle. If the car vibrates while braking at high speeds its just the rotors are warped and just need to be resurfaced. Thats all.

Just resurface them, sand the pads, grease the pins and brake pad ends, put back together and call it a day.

Why would you have them resurfaced when you can get another set of rotors for 40 bucks. If your doing back brakes as well then it might come out alot cheaper. But i'm from the honda realm. We had drum back brakes =[

Had, I have an 08 and they still DO have the drums...I saw that and was like wow, honda seriously you need to step it up.

Also, to the OP, take your stuff to Oreilleys or Napa and have them resurface the rotors....10bucks each....40 bucks for all four and no shaking.

Like they said above sounds like warped rotors, get the run out checked and resurfaced if needed. Even though they are new when they sit on shelves in a warehouse waiting to be pulled and sent to the store, they will start to reshape to the shelf. And they are not always handled properly, i see it every day. (i work at car quest)

Wow, I don't know about the opinions in here. He said they were slotted, and new..... It seems reasonable to me that they would not be warped. Plus the fact did not come out that they were slotted until later. However, you can have them checked and turned if needed...nevertheless... I am going with wrong pads are being used for five hundred Alex....

What about powerslot brand rotors? Anyone have experience with those?

Hey OP, where did your slotted rotors come from? Is there a brand on the box? I am curious to see where this goes.
