Whats wrong with my car? please help

Ok i have had my 97 gsx eclipse for almost a year now and over the summer i did some minnor mods. Intake, BOV, Upper IC pipe, boost controler (dont use tho), and a breather. However, here recently i have been having problems with my car in the cold. i can be driving and i will get really bad turbo lag in 1st and 2nd and my check engine light kicks on. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem before or what is going on? does it have anything to do with my mods and the cold or is something really messed up?

Another problem im having is an extreme vibration coming from the panels in the car. the only conclusion i can come to is that i need a wheel alignment dur to the fact that going stright it loud turning left is louder and turning right it goes quiet. if you guys could help me out and possibly give me any suggestions as to what to do or if any of you are having the same deal. thanxs

I have no idea about your first problem. Your other problem though does not sound like an alignment issue sounds more like a wheel bearing to me, i went through the same thing about two weeks ago. good luck

thanks man ill have to look into it but money is super tight with me right now. any who how much did that run you to get the bearings done?


Just another update for you guys to maybe help me out, the check engine light did turn back on today. It seems to happen as soon as I leave from a dead stop. It feels like it's turbo lag sometimes but others think it might be the tranny. but if I floor it at the light it bogs way down and putt putts a little then it just grabs and goes. Any ideas?

Most Autozones have the ability to pull obdII engine codes. That is where I would start out on your first problem. If you can get that code pulled and let us know what it says then that will give us a better starting point to help you with your problem.

The check oil light doesn't come on at all? Have you checked plugs and wires? Also maybe an injector harness is loose. ONe of mine was loose and it felt like i was hitting a wall until it came off completely and i only had 3 pistons firing.

I had that problem and it turned out to be a cracked manifold...which in turn fouled the plugs realy bad.

That would cause it to spool slower and cause some bogging but if you can't hear a manifold leak than you need to get your ears checked and get fitted for a hearing aide. It's pretty easy to diagnose a cracked manifold if that is the problem.

I would also check for boost leaks. Leaks pop up in the weirdest places and for no reason at all and they can really cause some problems with the car that are hard to diagnose.

Does the car pull all the way through redline after it bogs off the line? Does the car idle correctly?

Do a boost leak test, and check / change your spark plugs. Your vibration is likely due to worn bearings (as mentioned), drive shaft or CV joint.

Go to Auto Zone and check out their OBDII scanner and pull the code.
My bet is on the Manifold Differential Pressure Sensor, and also do a BLT like Wret mentioned.

thanxs for all the imput guys. nice to know i have somewhere to go to to get some help. my schedual is pretty busy but i deffinetly think im going to try to get to autozone annd find out what code it is. hopefully they can still find it even tho i reset the light. and the more i talk to people the more i do think its probly the barings in the wheels. ice drifting probly plays a role in the damage to that one. and just to show u how much im in the hole i also need a new battery and i have $500 worth of damage from some hit and run punk. thanxs again guys ill post back up with an update soon.

ok guys heres another update and im hoping this will help. today driving down the highway at about 75mph the car bogged down and had a huge backfire. it sounded like someone just shot a cannon ball out of my tail pipe. so i went to autozone did the ecu read and it told me i have a misfire in cylinder 4 any ideas?
