the best price/screen size/os palm is what i got...the IIIxe

ok, i got it all up and running. i am currently using the laptop but will give the palm a whirl later. it works, for free software, it works GREAT. has some pretty cool layouts, etc etc. i like it all in all.

all for less then palmlogger software and cable

What did you end up getting, what software, what cable and you said it works with your laptop?

i used the multiplex T16-003. its meant for a palm, but if you look at the specs, all you need is a null modem adapter to run a lappytop off it (if i was gonna run just the laptop i'd have ordered the T16-002). http://www.multiplex-engineering.com

i used tunerstein. its got some nifty toys the really helped me tune

Email him.
He sells them off-ebay for $49, so no bidding needed.

ok, got the palm version up and running. it makes the laptop version look like a pile of puke.

I got my datalogger today in the mail from the guy off ebay. I bought it through ebay for $73 shipped. It took a week to ship (assuming he told me the correct day he shipped it). I am not too happy with how the cord was made because the connectors for the diagnostic port are individual pins which you connect. One of the connectors fits on really loosly. Seems as if it may fall of in a wile. The cable also comes with a burned copy of TMO software. I hooked it up to my laptop and the software works great. It works good on the laptop but I am having trouble connecting it to my palm (which I planned on doing). I bought a male to male serial adapter so I can hook it up to the palm cradle but I am having trouble getting the software on the palm. I will try installing the tunerstien software in a bit as I am too busy now. All-in -all I am statisfied with the cable and software. I hope I can get it to work on my palm so I dont have to cart a laptop around.

Is there any way to hook the palm up to the cable without using the cradle? I thought I have seen them hooked strait up to the palm without the cradle? What parts would I need?

I got an adapter without the craddle.
They sell 'em in many places on the net.

I still have my pocketlogger, so I will use that cable for the laptop as well. What functions does that TMO software feature ?

Has anybody got the Tunerstein "Palm'n'stein" program to work without buying the cable they say. I have a regular OBD2 to Serial cable and can't seem to get it to work. Anybody???

so this lets you monitor what the ecu see's in obdII format? Im confused...so you can monitor things like intake temps, 02 sensor readings like you can with OBDII? Pretty cool.

wont work. you need the PPT racing or multiplex cable

how much memory do you all use up when logging?
I'm trying to figure out how much memory Ill need. i'm looking at the m130 which has 8MB of memory which i'm hoping is enough for both logging and personal use

i just loaded the tuner and new upgraded pockt on my palm. i have not used the tuner but i really like the new features of the pocket:thumb:

the m100 and m105 are suggested if you're not looking to spend much, so i don't think you need much memory... the m100 only has 2mb

If you want a cheap palm with 8mb memory, just get a palm IIIxe. 8mb is plenty of memory and you can buy one on ebay for around $50. Check these out:

I would buy one of these if I needed one. I have an IIIxe myself. Why pay more for the m series palms which just look different. I wouldn't be worried about buying a used palm either. They have great tech support. I have bought 2 other palms at pawn shops (palm V and IIIc). The palm V has broken a few times and they have sent me refurbished ones. No questions asked.
