i have not read a single un-confusing post, so im just gonna ask...
what would be good oil for summer, and winter for a '90gsx with 166,000 miles?
i would like a reccomended brand, weight for summer and one for winter also. i am too confused to make a decision based on these previous posts, so please help! oh, and ill spend as much as i have to, to have the best for my engine.

10w30 should be fine for you for summer and 5w-30 for winter. mobil 1 synthetic.
or you could use amsoil

Thats why i use semi synthetic high mileage

who told you this? synthetic is better than conventional oil will ever be the reason people dont like to use synthetic on hig mileage cars that have ran conventioanl there whole life is sludge build up and clogs hoels where oil could leak out, when you put synthetic init cleans away the sludge and where there was a small hole the oil will now leak out.

I have no idea what oil I had before, but I tried Mobil 1 5w30 and it burned it in like a month. I had blue smoke most of the time. Now I tried 10w30 and it is a lot better (just some small blue smoke every now and then) but what is the best for this engine? and will I need to switch oils after I throw on my turbo?

BTW Checked the valve seals, and spark plugs but didn't spot any problems. Piston rings are fine too.

You shouldn't be seeing any blue smoke. How did you check your valve seals and piston rings?

Took it to the dealership They said everything was fine. Wierd

How can I check the valve seals myself? I always though it would be the valve seals, but anyway, I personally checked the spark plugs and there was no sign of oil.

I just checked today, and it more white now...

Have you tried a compression check?


Also to check them according to my knowledge you have to remove the valve cover.

Whats up guys, well im thinkin bout changing the weight of my oil. I used to live in arkansas where it actually got cold and snowed, well now that im in florida i was think i need to change my weight, i currently run mobile one 15-50, just curious what you guys run and what you think i should change to, is there any oil better for hotter weather? thanks guys
