what oil should i use for a 90talon tsi awd during the winter?

I was at autozone today and saw high zinc race oil. I for got what brand it was. It came in straight 40 up to 20w50. I typically use Pennzoil ultra ( step up from platinum) but wanted to switch to this stuff cause its cheaper and I been told zinc is really good for the Turbo, but its not full synthetic and that's what I been using, so won't that mess things up? Or could I just use Pennzoil like I been and just use a zinc additive?

Anyone know the zinc/phos numbers for Brad Penn 10w-40? Im running vr1 20/50 now but thinking of going to a lighter weight. I have 3g lifters and they tick in the am on start up. Could the 20/50 be too thick?
