What type of oil should I use???

I just bought a 90 gsx with about 100k on it and I wanted to know what type of oil I should run ? I will be running it hard. Also is it ok to use synthetic oil on this car or not? I've heard mixed responses before!

synth oil is known to be better for these cars, though at your mileage if it hasnt been run on synth up to this point go easy on it for a little while if you make the switch and look for leaks or oil loss. i havent personally experienced it but it is said that a car that has been run on normal oil all its life may not like the switch over to synth.. something about it not expanding seals/gaskets that are worn out as well as normal oil does.. this is due to the engines poor condition though, not the oil itself. assuming everything is in good shape go synth all the way.

all i use is mobil 1 synthetic and its been great.. although i only have 46k on my gst

Synthetic oils will act sorta like a thinner oil in a sense that it will get into smaller places that normal oil wouldn't usually get. If you drop synthetic into a high milage engine that has run conventional oil its entire life, then you run the risk of random oil leaks sprouting up. The synthetic oil will get in those smaller places, and could possibly clean out some buildups or deposits around the gaskets. Well some of those deposits could be what's actually helping seal that particular spot, and once cleaned out, you may start to leak. It's not guaranteed, but it's possible. If you do switch, just be cautious for awhile and watch for leaks because there's a good chance they will appear.

on my old car, not a dsm but still a car... i used synth oil for awhile, dont know what was used in it before but when i got it i used synth, but it was leaking alot of oil and i didnt like spending the 4-5 bucks for a quart of oil. i switched back to normal oil and it didnt leak as much.

mine has always been run on rock oil.. havent had any problems yet. 120k.. why change now?
