Hi. I am Justin and I am new to the DSM scene.I recently owned a 2001 Civic Ex coupe
and finally got tired of losing to everything with a motor in it. I plan on gettine a 95-99 GST. At first i wanted a 97-99 GST Because of the spoiler and the rimsand front bumper, but the more subtle styling of the 95 and 96 are growing on me but from what I have read the 95-96 are more likely to C.Walk.So I am about to ask for advice, what are some things I should look for or avoid in a turbo'd eclipse before I decide to buy?I plan on not doing much to the exterior. What could I do to try to hide the fact I have a GST?I planned on buying a RS sticker for the back but I don't know where to find them.Anyone know?

Thanks for the help in advance.

LOL

Sorry i couldnt help it. Asking for advice is fine, but im sure you could figure out where to get a sticker.

id go with a 1g unless you could find a 2g wiht a 6 bolt conversion already done to it... just for performance sake

first off your new to the seen so what makes a sleeper a sleeper wouldn't matter if your not knowing the difference of venting and non venting. if your not knowing how to take a dsm seriously then your going to have to do your research on the car before your purchase. and also learn more on the so called c walk in your words. and know what is involved in a crank walk. and what the probability that it happens. your major concerns are to fool people by placing an rs sticker on a 2ga? what about the grey underbody running around the car? everyone here that knows dsm will notice that more than anything else. also if your going for it and want an eclipse do the research please.. not trying to rag on you but that would be the best thing for you to do. otherwise get a Honda throw in some goodies and keep the dx sticker on it and don't lower it.

Might as well just take off the GST sticker from the rear. The RS trim of the 2G is easy to spot from a turbo.

- no spoiler, so forget the spoiler you like
- non-electronic antenna
- single tailpipe
- wheels are smaller, but everybody changes them

not to mention
-black door caps
- NO REAR DISC BRAKES

you mine as well go with a custon exhaust that goes to a stock 2g single muffler with the t taken off of the badge.

There are people where I live that are so ignorant, they won't notice the fact I have a spoiler and a power antenna rims or any other stuff like that.Every city has its share of ignorant people. They just look at the sticker.
I figure I can use that to my advantage.Maybe I should just cut the T off the sticker or something.I just think it would be funny to have an RS sticker. If my car does not show signs of crankwalk ould it benefit me much to do a 6 bolt swap?

oh yeah, and Gary: People where i live are mainly into Honda/Acuras most of which are all show and no go.Thats why I'm dumping the civ.I plan on being a bit different.GSTs and GSXs are quite rare here. They wouldn't know a RS from a GSX.

i removed the T off my car, so many people actually thought i own a GS. i also took the eclipse letter off and the word mitsubishi in the rear, it just show the symbol :dsm: so most adults would ask me what car it is.

What you should do is get a GSX and take a razor to the "X". I bet there is a ton of GS' around you and you could blend right in with GS on the back but have AWD to take care of any of them. Its your money, spend it wisely.

I dont know why you would do that to your car, Everyone well obviously know it is a turbo car when they hear it spool up and the blow off valve. Unless you never let your turbo spool up and drive really slow. Then in that case just buy a plain old eclipse rs and call it a day. The ''sleeper'' look is getting pretty old.

It's easy to be original these days...that's why I got rid of my civic. ;)
There is no market for GST's in area.I have to go to texas to get one.If
I drive slow they will never know.
And, no I won't get an RS. I don't want a car slower than my civic.

umm...just saying the same motor is in the rs and the gs and since the gs does have some added weight maybe would it be safe to assume that the gs would in fact if you count it slower than the rs...plus the rs is just so sick (sorry for all of you that have one) but the gs is easier to blend in i just took my sticker off but after you beat alot of mustangs in your area people find out who you are even if you do blend into everyone else that drives an eclipse. i say go get a gsx i <3 them you'll never want to go back when you find you can get a 0-60' under 2 seconds hell even under 1.5 if your decent but like said before its your money but sleepers are overrated now what you can do is pull a me and prolly other people on your turbo and get a supra sidemount (capable of 500whp) get a 14b and port the heck outta the manifold and o2 housing then when ppl look under your hood they see the t25 and maybe a bov but look into crank walk do a search there was a post not too long ago said something like 48% of 95 turbo eclipse have had it or show symptoms but then agian it could be weighted since the 95 was the most popular year =/ its your choice

not sure on this one, but i thought that none of the RS's had sunroofs, it would be MUCH easier to pull off a "GS" over a "RS" Also, if you get a turbo eclipse and think that you will drive slow so noone will know that it is boosted..........think again!!!!!! i ALWAYS tell myself "i am gonna try to go all day without boosting", has never happened yet......good luck trying to drive slow :p that said, get a GSX :thumb:

Eurotails, Blitz body kit, some 16inch chrome wheels, double spoiler thing, take off the T. If you plan to go with a bigger turbo stay with a sidemount setup or paint the FMIC black and put mesh grill infront of it.

Only in a case of pure ignorance would u be able to get away with the whole removal of the letters or stickers thing. And even a well modded up non turbo eclipse can be made quick. So why waste your time and money trying to make it a "sleeper". If you havnt read magazines lately our cars are all over them. Just spend your money making that thing a beast.

true that who cares if its a sleeper the V-8 guys are still going to say its just a 4 cyclinder no matter what you do. i hang out w/ the v8's more than the rice crowd cause its more of a chalenge

most ricers are really ignorant though. got a guy here modding his 3G, he has a AFC, dual exhaust, and NO2 with a body kit. he totalled his 2g and baught that. After i baught my 1g he and his friends were dismissing my Laser as a non-turbo cause it only has RS on the rear. They paid no mind to the grey ground effects or to the "TURBO INTERCOOLED" behind each fender, though you really can't see that sticker. still he thinks his automatic is standanrd because of the "manual shift" gate they have. Another ricer in a honda DX with a 1.6 wanted to take me for my guages while i was refuling. had to tell him they would'nt fit his car and he would have no use for a boost guage! Told him i wouldn't even wast my time on his rag. He wouldn't leave me alone until i poped the hood. Its hard to hid the damn dump of the turbo unless ur gooing super slow. I still have all the factory plumbing on the intake and you can still get a listen.

He just Said An eclipse is as sloow as his civic...my g/f drives a 2000 EX auto and that thing has no pick up on it at all...at least my Crappy RS can downshift and actually throw you back in the seat a lil...and just do what I'm gonna do...get a sunroof put in your RS...but i'm not goign for any look i just want a sunroof and a nice looking fun car to drive....but ya Eclipse > Civic

So to sum it up..

You want your car to look "sleeper" Which includes...

The RS or GS looks, That you want to go for..

AND

You will drive slow and not boost so no one hears your car...

In that case, Buy a ####ing nonturbo 2g geezus ####ing christ. There is no point in even owning a turbo car then.

ok if you REALLY want a sleeper swap in a 6bolt 4g63t into a hyundai elantra, excel or a 89-92 colt summit mirage, thats a sleeper............not some DEBADGED eclipse, i mean come on if you want a sleeper get a REAL sleeper not nice car and make it look like poop, Or be really smart and get a 1g dsm no one ever expects them and crankwalk is REAL slim

So its your choice you can do either, but when you say sleeper you better mean it

oh and a secret :shhh: not to be a jerk but c- walking is what black dudes do in the club not what happens inside a dsm's engine ;)

A sleeper is only good until you beat the first really modded car in your town, Then the word spreads fast.

then you put another coat of bondo on it and bang youre a whole nother car.

my version of sleeper is this. a car that looks even worse than stock, yet is fast as fvck.

a car that has stock wheels, ride height, with faded ass paint, stock exhaust, possibly no wing(take it off and duct tape the holes for the extra effect), hasnt been washed in months, possibly unpainted body parts. a sleeper does NOT go out looking for the races, yet waits for the races to come to him, then strikes with a mighty fist and leaves the unknowing competition in awe over their unwilling demise.

the perfect sleeper? awd 4g63 colt or 4g63 hyuhdai(elantra i think people do). nobody would ever know what hit them, and by the time they realized what had happened it would be long gone.
