I'm just wondering what this used to control, and what could i have done to make this happen.

No one knows what it is that's burnt or what would cause this? Really want to get this figgured out before I go looking to get this ECU fixed or find a replacement

It looks like it shorted out some how. You might not of had anything to do with it. The ECUS tend to go bad for odd reasons. How did figure out that there was something wrong with the ECU?

Blew a power transistor on the momboard.

Did any messing around with any sensors while the car was running, or key on?

Definitely a dead short to blow this transistor.

If you know the value of this transistor and know soldering, it's an easy fix.

Otherwise, it's a sendoff part to get rebuilt.

I would get faint burning electronics every once in a while. Just a little burn smell, so little I was the only one to ever smell it. I pulled the ecu because it was something I haven't done yet.

What exactly does that power transister go to, like what sensors is it there for.

I haven't done any wiring with the key on or the battery hooked up, but I do have some mystery electrical tape that might need looked at.

Any ecu gurus wanna chime in on this?

Same thing that the power transistor does for coil for the motor - switches current on and off to the source.

Yours just had to short out and let go for no apparent reason outside something could have been bad down the current string to short out this transistor.

Welcome to the world of electronics - things just happen when they want to.
