On my project car I just pulled out the full exhaust, which is 3" straight to a thermal r&d muffler, but looking at the muffler part it seems that it has become separated where the barrel part meets the tip part. I'm going to eventually bring it to the local exhaust shop to see if he can fix it but do you guys think that rewelding this would make it ok? I really want this to work because I've always wanted a thermal exhaust :sosad:

Well looking at your pictures you could probably weld it but there is a good gap to cover so probably will not be the best looking welds but with someone that knows what there doing probably could make it structurally sound. I have welded a 2 inch muffler pipe with 3inch down pipes and was a challenge but got it done just wasn't the prettiest but got the job done with a wire welder at the college I was attending not the best machine. Hope to see pictures of the fix or an update on the progress.

Did you buy the system originally, or know who did? If so, the muffler is covered under their lifetime warranty.

As for repairing it, yes I believe someone who knows what they are doing could easily fix that.

I do not know who bought the exhaust and I don't believe it was the PO so I doubt they would give me the warranty with it. It would just really suck if I couldn't use this thermal exhaust because it was one of the key reasons I was interested in the car haha Like I said I plan on bringing it to a local exhaust shop so I'll let you guys know how it goes

Heck contact Thermal and see what they say. They may hook you up on a deal on just the rear section of the catback where the muffler is. Worst case scenario you wasted a couple of minutes typing up an email for them to tell you you're SOL.

ya deffently post pics of the finish product i would like to see how the welds come out. I am a mechanic but also going to school for welding so interests to see how well the weld it up.
