What is this? (Early 2G-T intake "tank") box, licp

Ok what is the the black box that is on a stock TSI that has a hose coming from the IC and the turbo, its a big black plastic thing that goes up into the car and holds the pipes leading from IC to turbo, what is it? what does it do? is it bad to take it off and run straight pipe there, if not looking to get a FMIC? let me know I take pictures tomorrow when its light out if no one has a clue thanks!, My friend said its a type of resonator for the turbo to quiet the spool or something I dn, let me know!

IIRC 2gas have a silencer in their intercooler piping. I suspect that is what you are talking about. Get rid of it then once its off kick it a couple of times for being useless.

Im not sure without seeing a pic, but im thinking that is some type of muffling device to help quiet the intake trac. Yes you can take it out and use a straight pipe.

I knew someone who had a 95 GSX & yes stomp on it,melt it & trash it,it's worthless & run the hard S-pipe to the intercooler that's what we did with his.

The later models (I think 97 and up) don't have it. Yay.

I know my 98 GS-T didn't come with one it was just a braided rubber hose on mine but i switched to the hard S-pipe.

yup pointless i had one on my TSI AWD and i was like WTF at first. but now it has a hard pipe so its all good.

just replaced it with some hard piping, now my car sounds like it has balls jk the increase sound of the turbo is nice, and lag was reduced a bit, enough that its noticeable, no hp gain tho but didnt expect it
