ok so i saw a sub box in the back of an eclipse and i want to do a similar design so i can still put stuff in the trunk, but i would do my 2 10's or should i buy 2 12's for subs... what do you think?

You will need to find 10" subs that don't require a lot of cu. ft. in a sealed application. I would say build the box first, find out the internal volume and then start shopping for 10" subs.

Yea looks good but you'll have to get shallow mount subs for a box like that or you can build it about 8 inch wide and that might give you enough clearence for a standard sub. Most subs have a specific volume check the subwoofer stats but its generally 1 cubic foot.

+1. Like I said in your other post, I've been designing Audio Systems for quite some time. Most custom. To get the best sound, you don't need big ass subs, you need the right subs. 8", 10", 12", all great subs, 15's are just stupid and useless. The only thing you could listen to is severe low bass. build the box, get everything perfect and then locate the internal volume of the box and shop for subs...

+1 on shallow Mounts. Shallow Mount technology is killer right now. Pioneer Premier's bad ass is a 1500w MAX, 400w NOM sub, 12" diameter and only 3" deep! Which saves you alot of internal volume. These subs are no Joke. I've used Kicker Shallow Mounts and absolutely love them. Love Kenwood Shallow Mounts as well. These subs can perform! There is no reason to use a regular sub when your worried about space.

I don't know how those subs react with a sealed enclosure cause I've used them on a ported enclosure. but I know for a fact that most Rockford Subs can put you in the hospital with heart failure because of how hard they hit under a sealed enclosure.

a good friend who's a muscian said that 10's are better for screamo/metal etc. and 12's are better for hiphop/rab kinda stuff

Well installs aren’t really my thing but that’s real nice looking, might do this for myself. :thumb:

Looks like a JL stealth both. I would highly suggest getting a ported box if you make it. Sealed boxes are cleaner and faster but you can never know what they will sound like. With a ported box it in essence uses the car as a box as well. A ported box will sound almost the same in any vehicle you put it in, while a sealed could sound amazing in one vehicle, move it to another and sound terrible. I would suggest the Pioneer shallow mounts as well, very good quality product.

looks like a real good design. I think I would go with two of the shallow mount pioneer 10"s.
I'be got two of them in a simiar sized sealed box in my truck and they sould great, nice tight bass, not the sloppy farting noise you hear out of a lot of cars.

Ported boxes sound louder, but with less crispness. They also have a lot more that needs to go into the design than just adding ports to a box. Lots of math stuffs.
