I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

I found a 95 gst spyder with 130k l. Auto. bone stock. The guy says it.runs but poorly. Needs fuses. I know after speaking with him that he knows ZERO bout cars. Can't even pull a spark plug wire. The car is super clean.

What are the main things to look at to ensure no major engine damage?

What would u pay for it?

Did you end up getting this? I saw it on craigslist the other day... sounded a little fishy as to what was REALLY wrong with it.
 
Hi I'm new too these forms sorry if not posted in right place but what I have is a 92 awd talon I have a chance to buy for 1100 has 130k on it new clutch axes and countless parts because we can't get it running it starts up and dies every time replaced everything from the ecu to the power transistor any ideas would help alot
 
I had a similar issue when i got my motor in.. my car would start and run for about a min then shut off. However when trying to restart the car had to wait a while before it would start again. I double checked my vac lines going to fuel reg solenoid found i had put them on switched with the solenoid right next to it. Switched them around and it fixed the starting issue.. not saying this is your problem but it is an easy thing to check just by making sure all vac lines run to correct places
 
Have you checked your fuel system? Timing? Firing order? Spark plug gap? Mas air flow meter? If you could be a little bit more specific it would help us help you better. Welcome to the forums. Oh, YES, totally worth it. Every Penny! its not easy though, Good luck and dont get discouraged. DSM are like pipms, they take our money but we love it LOL.:hellyeah:LOL
 
Ok it ran great then started to die every now and then then just went to doing this the last time it died had a Manuel boost adjustment on it took it off and ran it back to stock got a new fuel pump good coils it starts right up every time sounds good but when it goes to idle down it just cuts off and I read the ohms of the mpi looked good one thing I haven't tried is the maf sensor . I know they unplugged the four relays on the fire wall but was running without those .
 
Actually I'm not sure urban I had a friend working on it with me he was the ones who redid the boost lines is there diagram of how it needs to be ?
 
Ok bov looks good thanks for the pics I think it's the maf it's the only sensor I haven't replaced but my fuel pump sending unit wires are a mess my friend put them on backwards I believe does anyone have a picture of how they need to be or a diagram ? Thanks

Kbb says $3,500 but there is no way i'm letting her go for that.

Priorities can easily be rearranged, I'd start by ordering some larger injectors 1250s? and Divorce lawyer gift Certificates.
 
Don't marry this girl. What woman would force you to sell what you love? Its not a woman to marry. I'd only marry a woman who would respect my love of cars ... and I'm a little obessive with my 5 eclipses :D Anyways my condolensces. Where is it anyways? I could use a convertible :)

I don't like convertibles but damn that's a nice car. Great ext/int color combo with the chrome rims. Good luck with the sale and the fiance. LOL.

I disagree. I just bought a GSX with 30,700 original miles on it bone stock for 5k flat. It was in really good shape too especially the interior which has not a single scratch anywhere. The key is what the market will support. Down near Hartford, maybe you can get 7, but I wouldn't expect more than 6k. But do expect a lot of tire kickers :)
