I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

Me personally, think you might of jumped the gun since you said you are fairly new to dsm. The car is heavily complicatedly modded. If you plan on driving it a lot. You'll have to understand how things work and why it works. But you are right. It does look very fun to drive. Have fun!

Completely incorrect, Wes?.. I live in the south so I don't have to worry about rust due to snow.. and like I stated earlier I didnt see he mentioned he did, so I took back what I said.. Get your eyes fixed! (and that front bumper, it looks retarded!) ... And I agree with Perk85's comment.

Lol as usual resort to insults when your confronted with facts. Yeah my front bumper that has been modded to fit a 650hp intercooler sure looks retarded. I mean, with your non-turbo 420a you should know so much about performance, right? ROFL

Any car in any area can rust. Water + Iron = Rust. I've seen cars in the dead center of Northern Mexico rust to nothing and 30 year old cars in Utah clean enough to eat off the undercarriage. So assuming a car has no rust, regardless of location, is wrong.

In cases like that, I always find it humorous to say you'll gladly pay the asking price if they can provide dyno sheets. Chances are the car in it's current form would be lucky to make 400whp.

A 3076R is a 52 lb/min turbo. You're not getting 600whp from a 52 lb/min turbo unless you're one of the few DSM gods out there...and judging by the way this tool is throwing names like "Greddy" around, he definitely doesn't fit in that category.

A wideband is nice to have, but hes got a egt(exhaust gas temperature) You don't need a wideband or a/f gauge since the egt acts like a wideband. Its just an older way of monitoring. The lower your egt is the leaner you are the higher the richer.

Other way around. Lean - hotter. Rich - cooler. :p i know this from when i was into gas RC trucks.

PWND :applause:
And yes pics of Evo X or ban

Pics to come soon... of Evo X waiting to see if I can see the GSX today. Evo is lightly modified. Just a Perrin cat back and drop in filter. The goal is to get the GSX ready for the winter, and then start work on the X then while the summer is going on Work on the GSX that way I have a car to work with year round. Also getting an Outlander Sport here in July, as an Full time DD. This picture is right before I am about to take my wife to breakfast.

Junkyard Life: Classic Cars, Muscle Cars, Barn finds, Hot rods and part news: Go West for rust-free hot rod relics Well Wes, You drove around from Mexico to Utah looking for rust on cars?!?.. I doubt that!..looks like your wrong again. Cars from the desert area are less likely to rust (They have cars here from the 50's here still rust free, and that's just one of the many junkyards I pulled up.) So yeah, I would say any car can rust in any spot, but location plays a big part.. and I am not insulting you. Good job on the nice 600hp intercooler (I doubt your making it anywhere close to that number with a 16g)!...:applause: I had a simalar Precision one on a 240sx... As far as your bumper, it still makes your car look like a retarded kitten. (with a cute little black nose) and I am not trying to be mean. I mean that as a friend.

I am considering getting into a Talon if anyone could take the time and chek this link out and tell me what you think. I looking to enter the world of DSM. I am looking for an AWD manual transmission car that looks cool and has decent gas concumption. Also how are these cars on not very well maintained back roads? I live out in the woods of New Hampshire, on a not very good dirt road and 90% of our paved roads still have huge frost heaves. Is this the car for me? I am a mechanic but that doesnt mean I want to buy a car and have to repair it so I want something durable.
here is the link to the car:

1995 Eagle Talon Esi, $3,800 OBO

Also if you read what has been done to this car it says they put a 96 motor in it. how will pull my DTC's if 95 was obd1 and 96 is obd2. they did not swap the ECU.

I say negative on that car. It looks nice but it does not have a 4g63 motor and isn't AWD. It has a 420a motor that has been modified to run a turbo. Keep looking for a TSI or GSX model. Those are AWD and will serve you very well.

As far as driving conditions they can be great for driving off roads. However, there reliability can sometimes sway people to not buy them. Especially if you are off in the middle of nowhere. Good luck and don't jump on the first car you see.

Hey guys, i've been doing a lot of searching and researching on this site because I've been intrigued by DSM's for years and have been searching for a GSX 2g for a long time in clean low mile form. I pretty much gave up on that LOL.
However I recently test drove an auto eclipse gsx that I turned down with 113k miles because although a ton of maintenance was done I could tell it had been abused and needed alot more work and the price wasn't moving.
The same guy has a 1999 GST as in the add I'll post a link to. He let me drive it and it runs super smooth, very good kick and other than the clear coat and the idiot previous owner spraying the engine bay with a bed liner type of shit it's real nice. Hopefully the crap can be scraped out. According to the owner who has 12 years in DSM, it has never seen more than 14psi on a T25, but he just bought it with tranny problems and fixed it recently. Timing, head and turbo were all replaced 10k ago at the same time. No A/C which sucks (deleted) , but he has all the lines and shit from his spyder. Has summer tires on it, so would need all season.

Here's the link 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST with mods and new parts talon

Let me know if you think this is a good car / price ($3700)
142k Miles is certainly alot.

If anyone has the ability to carfax it that would be super awesome :thumb:

hello fellow dsmers, I came upon this post on craigslist and just wanted to shoot it at you guys and see whats good or not!? its a galant vr4, though he sells it in parts or whole car, no title just bill of sale. I wasnt interested in the whole car though but just the engine it self. I already emailed the guy and the cars odo. is at 18,xxx, I havent asked if the motor turns or what the condition is, he just got back to me saying, $1000 for the whole car or $750 for the engine and tranny, I emailed him tonight if he's willing to sell just the engine it self.

How much would you pay for a 4g63t?
whats the price range for these engines complete?
and is it a direct fit for my 1ga?

I just want a project engine for now, just fix it up little by little then drop it on my 1g when its ready. thanks for the help if any guys.

oh and by the way here's the link: http://laredo.craigslist.org/cto/3130575108.html

Seems like,a,good deal to me. Id take the cash with me and check it over real good, drive it. If you likr it get it. Those, aren't the anniversary rims though. Beleive they are gsx rims. Oz F1 rims. Have a,set on my spyder :D

Was wondering what you guys think. The guy that "bought" it backed out and I have an offer to pick this up for $400. Timing belt snapped and bent valves. Planning on rebuilding anyway, was wondering if its worth the $400. Thanks. Exterior pics in the link and will post more when I get them tomorrow. New stock 14b turbo installed, so claimed and some others listed.

Yea its worth it but plan on just doin a true build on the motor and spending bout $1-2k(forged pistons and rods, all new parts for the head. Id personally just try to find a new motor to put in it. I had a 91 tsi will a working motor but horrible body and interior so i bout a 92 esi that just slipped the tbelt also with a good body and interior for $600 and in the process of transplanting everything.

Def planning on doing a full rebuild, the way I want it. I'm ok with spending the money on it for the time being :thumb:
