sic95gst, how old is that headunit, man that thing is lookin rough, next time save some more money and get a cd player :D

I kid I kid. I like that shift knob

Yeah i have a Kenwood 819 headunit just waiting to go in but i'm still trying to figure out what i need to do to keep my stock front tweeters working! IF anyone has any help on this PM me please because i hate my stock headunit! I do love my Evo8 knob exspensive but i think fully worth it because it's all soft leather. I had a MEtal knob and during the winter and summer i had to shift with a rag and it sucked!

i got a chrome ball shift knob screws right on the stock threads. pretty heavy and really nice and shiny lookin. made by Razo, got it at a rice shop, had japanese writing on the box and shit.. so i dunno if youll be able to find one. was actually from japan.

theres a pic in my gallery of it.. old pic but it had the knob in it

i ordered mines and just received it today. i had originally thought it was going to be smaller than the stock one, but wrong i was. it has a nice feel to it, nice look with the baseball stitching and all. nice heavy feel to it as well. but like the guy said above me, it sits about a half inch higher than the stocker does. i thought about switching back to the stock one too, but i figure its a waste of money to just let it sit.

Does anyone know where to buy the plastic inserts for Razo shift knobs. They are the ones that go on the inside to create the threads. I stripped mine out and now it just spins every time I shift. I also don't want to epoxy it to the shifter. Thanks

I don't think you can buy those separately. You may have to buy another knob. Check with any Razo dealer like optauto.com or one of the site sponsors.

Or... teflon tape, which will take out some of the slack. You don't want to over tighten though. The plastic sleaves can strip as well as break in to piece. Happened to a friend.

On other possible fix... and I don't know if it's do-able at all. Go to a plastics shop (like TAP) and get yourself an acrylic rod that fits inside the knob. Cut the rod to size and drill with a drill press, than get a thread tap with the right thead and thread the hole you just drilled... then epoxy it to the inside of the knob.

Personally, I'd just buy a new one. Tools and time will cost you just as much.

If you do decide to get a new one, I recommened the weighted razo with carbon. Combined with the Symbroski bushings the stock shifter feels great. Comes in silver, gray, and blue.

The weighted black/carbon knob is what I have. The best shift knob I have ever had. I will try the teflon tape or the thread lock. Thanks for the advice.

I just dug up the packaging for mine... if the teflon/loctite fix doesn't do it, you can take the insert that is meant for cars with skinnier shifter stalks (stamped size 8), put in a a vise and drill out or dremel out the hole so that it's about the right size... from there you should be able to thread it onto the shifter.

ive seen very similar ones at pepboys, you might wanna try some places like that or autozone

If it helps you shift and you like the looks, what does it matter?

I like the look of that one to tell you the truth. Thanks for the heads up. Atleast now I can buy it without having to wait 2-6 weeks on shipping for an OVERPRICED product that does the same thing..............AID IN SHIFTING THE GEARS ;)
