What is the best shift knob

Well, the greddy counter weight is a great knob, on a 1g. it looks great on a 1g, but when i tried it on my 2g it looked like dogshit! there was a huge ass gap between the boot and the knob. if i can get my friend to coem over i will put his knob on my car and take a picture of it for you. but i am not sure when he is gonna come over.
take it easy.

There is a small gap between the shifter and stock boot. Maybe 1" . I had a small cover cap (covers the torque screws) from the old knob so I just used that before screwing it on. The counterweight is a very good knob and looks awesome.

Yeah i have the counter weight on my talon and it does leave a little gap. But the difference between that and the others is amazing. It really helps shifting and i dont mind the gap b/c of this. Just pick up the counter weight in your hand and youll know what i mean.

well if you are looking for a heavy ass shift knob like me. the one i am thinking about getting is a RAZO, it is not all that attractive, but it weighs 400grams. which is damn near a whole pound! this RAZO one is even heavier than the greddy counter weight knob. it is supposed to be the heaviest knob in the world. the make 2 knobs that weigh 400grams. here are the pictures of them.

/\ i think i am going to get that one. 400g. i really dont like the carbon fiber in it. but they dont have a heavy ass, all aluminum one!

kind of OEM looking. i am not reall fond of its shape however.

but if yall decide to get one of these. let me know what you think of it!

The GReddy counterweight fits fine on my 97 Eclipse with stock shifter. The boot falls down off of it, so I pulled the center console, stuck a zip tie on the shifter to keep the boot up, and reasembled it (not my idea, but works great). It feels and looks great, I'll take a pic tomorrow.

hey on 2g's and 1g's...a stock 4cyl tiburon knob looks incredible....they fit perfectly, no gap...and they are smaller then the stock 2g and 1g knob. They feel really nice, and look really nice. I recommend going and "picking one up"

theres a place that makes the srt 4 shift knob that screws on to an evo/dsm shifter. How do you think that would look if i pulled the boot down further and gave it a ferrari style type shifter where its just the ball and the shift arm. That was my 2nd idea if i didn't get the greddy and i'm still considering it. By the way the shift knob is at www.modernperformance.com

Shift knob that is. Well my stock shift knob has almost had it, and I feel like buying something different. So lets hear it, what knob do you have? Or wish you had?

I have a momo one. Its carbon fiber looking, i sort of like it.. I wish I had the greddy counter weight, though.

It screws right on, the only problem is you are left w/ a bit of gap between the knob and boot. Great piece of advice is take the center console out and put a wire tie right at the bottom of the knob so the boot stays up w/ it. Its def worth the money for this knob, no doubt about it.

the greddy one is pretty bad except during the summer it gets insanely hot to the touch and i can barely shift. In the winter its cold also. But pretty awesome. Wait to put the shifter sequence thinggy on until you have had it for awhile. I put mine on and after awhile it works its way in so it spins a little more so it is off. Does that make any sense?

I understand what your saying, but mine has yet to do that. Ive had it for about 5-6 months. Ill have to check it out. But DAMN it gets really hot in the summer. FYI - Keep a right handed mechanic glove in the car in the summer, thats what i used, worked great.

I dont know if I want to carry around a glove so I can shift.

Haha, i had em in there so it was easy access. But it does get damn hot, so id think about that before you buy it.

The MOMO race airleather and alloy shift knob is what I have. I love it.

example:
http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/racair.html

They sell different versions, one completely wrapped in 'airleather' and some that comes with the alloy portion either yellow, red or blue.

Edit*
It comes with different rubber caps to put on the top of the stick once you have removed the old shiftknob, and 3 screws turned with an allen wrench to attatch to the stick. You might not like that...and you have to crank them down real tight or else it will get loose over time.

Odd man out. I got a Aluminum & C/F Razo shift knob. I love it but understand the cold and hot side of the fence. I just carry a cotton set of work gloves in the glove box so use that as a cover if really bad.

My son found an old Mazda one in the junk yard. Its about half the size of the std DSM one and looks stock and screws right on to the shifter rod. I love it. :thumb:
