What have you all used to clean up your blocks from rust?

Any specific compound or solution work best for a DIY? Is it simply best to have it cleaned up professionally?

You should post a picture of said rusty block.

You asking about the cylinders? Exterior? Deck surface?

Need more information.

For the exterior, I used an angle grinder with a wire wheel and a Dremel with a wire wheel/cup for the small crevices. I wasn't sure about using a rust reformer so I just did the best I could to mechanically remove the old paint and rust before a fresh coat of engine primer then enamel.

Deck surface or cylinder rust I'd take it to a machine shop.
