Here is a very good example of why you ALWAYS CLEAN all parts, even NEW. This cleaning fluid was clear until I cleaned my NEW SBC rocker arm studs, pushrods and rocker stud polylocks. All new parts have a coating on them to prevent rust so PLEASE, ALWAYS CLEAN YOUR PARTS before you install them!!!

Solid advice. That rust protectant coating just LOVES to gather dust and grime. Now that I have an ultrasonic cleaner I just dump it in there for a few minutes and its perfectly clean.

Company I used to work for shipped a lot of machinery to Brazil and we had to spray everything with that stuff, it's sticky like tar when first applied.
