You need to remove that cork BS, reclean the oil pan mating surfaces and use BLACK RTV. Apply evenly, torque it about 90% then let it cure overnight for 24 hours. Then go back and add the remaining 10%. Then you can add your engine oil and start it up. Make sure your oil pan flange is flat all the way around.
I believe the oil leak issue has been resolved but we shall see. Shout out to @pieceofcloth but attached is the picture of the culprit. I still dont understand why oil was coming from here but it may just be a casting defect? For reference its an ACL front case not OEM. I just didnt even consider it because thats a closed off bolt hole for the timing cover bolt.

Added a touch more Freon to it, and messed with idle more. Adjusted the throttle stop/IPS properly, and it idles noticeably better now. ISC position stays in the 30's. Alas, it still won't idle without assistance with the A/C on, but honestly...I'm happy with what I got.

Now to save pennies up for a built engine.

Im still so confused. I have triple checked and the only thing I can reason without starting the car to verify is its the oil pan in the same spot. I've attached a video and if someone could message me if you have an idea to not bog down this thread but no joke this is what I've been doing on my DSM and troubleshooting the tachometer for like 2 weeks now. As a note, I did use just RTV the first time I sealed the oil pan and I wanted to try a new method so no its not because I'm using cork with RTV

I know you got it figured out, but in the future if you're re-sealing a pan, I just did a 6-bolt engine with one of the AO Customs silicone gaskets (no RTV used), and it's perfect. Much nicer than jacking with RTV/Mitsu/HondaBond

You know I've seen a lot of back and forth about this gasket but ever since I did my re-seal like 3 or 4 other people recommended the same thing so I will definitely give it a try down the road. The only thing that concerns me with it is, would it be easier to accidentally over-tourque with it being thin silicone

@cswindel

Did you run the car without the timing cover and the oil starting dripping out of the front case bolt hole like in the picture? Can’t say I’ve ever seen this which is I’m genuinely and very curious.

FWIW I think we should start a poll of who is using the silicone and using rtv. I use permatex grey rtv personally because it’s at Walmart so it’s cheap and easy to get and convenient.

What is up with Rockauto? Is their business model to buy defective parts and sell them knowing if it's minor we won't complain? Installed a new(not rebuilt) AC delco alternator today. Belt tensioner wasn't right, very loose. Immediately noticed new unit has a smaller pulley than oem. Went and measure and it does not match the specs for this alternator. AC delco specs match OEM at 65mm.Actual diameter is more like 60mm. I went ahead and finished the job as I had no choice but belt will probably squeak and I'm going to have to redo this whole damn job on Saturday. Waste of an hour.

Oh yeah man the oil started seeping out immediately after i started the car and got back under it. And yeah its weird because based on all the other threads with a similar oil leak location I thought I was going to have to do the front main or oil pulley seal. But it was leaking in just the right spot that it got on nothing but the timing cover gasket/oil pan seal so thats why I was lead to think it was the oil pan thus re-sealing it. Because it wouldn't start dripping from the timing cover until the car was at operating temp, turns out it was just the oil pooling up and getting on the crank pulley from that hole but I was none the wiser at the time

Did I tell the story of the -no this is not the right part- rear vented rotor break calipers x 2

Rock Auto is just a reseller/distributor. They are listing the specs given to them. They also sell a ton of parts so the possibility of getting a bad part can be pretty high.

My biggest gripe is them going to "AI" chats for returns. I ordered ball joints for the Talon. They were both in the correct box, but one was very wrong. It was obviously for a truck.

I tried to initiate a return/refund/exchange and the "AI" system wanted me to pay for the return or give me a partial refund to keep the wrong part.

I finally found a workaround to send an email to an actual customer service person with pictures showing the very different ball joints I got and I finally got it sorted.

But ordering parts online, no matter the vendor, is always a crapshoot.

I stated I think two years ago now how rock auto has sucked more and more and got disagreed with.

Now people are seeing for themselves. Honestly since rockauto went mainstream with tv commercials and shit it has sunk deeper than the titanic. They’re nothing compared to their old selves. I only order stuff from them that isn’t make or break for me. The caliper debacle was the final nail in the coffin.

I always cross reference part numbers since they screw up 2g turbo and non turbo so often. Sometimes I just look stuff up as 1g depending on what it is.
I've generally gotten what I needed but not always. But as cheap as it is I still find it hard to complain. As of late though I've noticed Amazon is very close if not better on alot of the same parts. Cancelled some felpro stuff awhile back because of this.

Friend came by while I was working and fixed my gauges that have been dead since i got the car back, and cleaned up a lot of the wiring being the radio from factory and old audio installs. Time for a night cruise.

Funny you said this. I just put a clutch in my dodge with a g56. Only thing that didn’t come from Amazon was the south bend clutch kit and hydraulics.

Everything else came from Amazon. New shift tower boot, oem clutch fork, oem pivot ball, input shaft retainer, some new exhaust clamps and so on.

You really can’t beat it sometimes with prime being there in like 2 days or less sometimes.

I just learned something interesting about rockauto. I clicked on the return/something wrong tab. I didn't want a refund I just wanted to report a problem. It takes you down a rabbit hole ending with " can you fix it" and "how much money would you like to be compensated" with a blank line. First time I put in 50$ and it initiated a return. I cancelled it and tried 25$ and this time it just said they would accept that. They are refunding me 25$ for my trouble. All I have to do is change the pulleys. Honestly....I think I'm satisfied with that answer and no hassle of refund when they will probably send me another defective part.

I believe the oil leak issue is resolved! Shout out again to @pieceofcloth for sticking with me through it and @jersygsx for getting me that instrument cluster with a working tachometer! I think we are in business for that test drive finally! This community keeps me going man you guys have no idea

Drove it to work.

A/C was too cold so I had to turn it down.

Also, on E85 in city driving with A/C on it gets 15mpg. LOLROFL

Well...F rock auto. I couldn't swap the pulleys so now I would like to do a return and I can't. They're impossible to reach. I can't find an option.

there’s no human interaction on these things. It’s all using the web system. This is the whole reason I stopped using them. I tried to help them fix the incorrect part lookup - but they did not. Can't deal with that level of apathy.

The original air intake hose was in a pretty rough shape and was showing its age, so I had a local shop make me a new custom stainless steel one.
